Warning: Changing your PSN email or password via the PS3's XMB account management tool will corrupt your save files! Sadly, PlayStation 3 Firmware Update 2.53 does NOT resolve this issue.
This is extremely irritating as for over a month now, i havn't been able to play several games. Including, GTA4, Pain, Pixeljunk eden, Wipeout HD, Far Cry 2, and Resistance 2. Even though there are multiple forums out there full of people with this problem sony has seemed to fully ignore it. I'm gonna have to call them soon threating to supply every person with this issue a 360, my treat. Then maybe they'll pay more attention :P. Anyone else here encounter this issue?
can't you change it back to the way it was before? maybe it will work then. I remember when I made a new account and with a new name and copied the save files over from old to new, it wouldn't let me play some of them.
Oh well, lol. The problem is real and PS3 gamers need to know what's going on. It seems like this is nothing a quick FW update couldn't fix, but Sony must first agree to take it seriously. It's unfortunate that it has seemed to really come into the light after the latest FW.
and i changed the password a bunch of times and nothing happened :)
It got approved because the other time i tryed to post it, it was just a forum post i was linking too. Beleive me the first thing i tried was to change to back but it didnt do anything. Maybe it has something to do with certain ps3s. IF you look up some forums via searching "Ps3 error 80022d11" on google you will find that lots of people have this problem.
This article is BS. I've changed my password many times with in the past few months for game-sharing and such. I've changed it 6 times in the past few weeks to share Home with friends too. Lame article is lame.
Wow, that is a serious error. How the heck do you get corrupt files? If I get a Yellow Light of Death, at least I can get it fixed. I get a corrupt savegame and I'm f**ked! Got to go backup my savegames...
This is happening to some people. Happened to me. It will say you've "copied this file from another person". If you want a fix, save all your data on a usb stick. activate your account, delete User, make a new User, link it to your PSN, and viola. Works for me for LBP. Do it on your own risk. Never tried it for other games since LBP was the only one stuck.
I've done this multiple times after trophies have launched. I think you just have to be unlucky.
I JUST CHANGED IT THIS MORNING!!!!!!!! I HOPE MY DATA ISNT GONE I HAVE TO GO CHECK IT NOW.
I don't understand why people don't seem to beleive this is true. I'm telling you RIGHT NOW, go and search "PS3 error 80022d11" on google and you will find MULTIPLE forums full of people with this issue. Do your research before you discredit me.
They aren't saying that you're completely BSing this, but you're not considering all the facts here, and that this may be more of an isolated case than this article is making it out to be. They're also talking about their own experiences and that it hasn't affected them just yet. If this IS factual (no reason to believe it isn't and yeah, people might want to make sure they're not underplaying this before saying their piece), then I hope Sony fixes it soon, but I think your overreacting over what the comments are saying here.
It might be true, but the post makes it seem like no PS3 owner at all can change their PS3's password unless they want corrupted files. That's why everyone in this thread is running around like a chicken with their head cut off...you should at least make it clear that it doesn't happen to everyone.
I changed my email address from a Yahoo address to my ISP address without a problem. Freak, what model do you have? I have a launch 60GB console, and was wondering if it was a model(s) specific issue. I appreciate the heads up, even though I've had no problems. A little off topic, I did the same thing on my 360, and all is ok, but I still have to use my Yahoo address (which no longer exists btw) to access xboxlive.com. I checked on xboxlive.com and the email address they have listed is my ISP address, but I still have to use the old one to sign in. Anybody else experience this, and is there something I'm missing?
I have a 40gb model this error use to happen to me and i couldn't update my trophies my ps3 har drive fixed itself one day it was really wierd
I had been given access to one of my friends download history. We were game sharing wipeout hd and stardust. I had earned a couple of trophies on wipeout but nothing yet on stardust. I was then given access to anothers friend dl history as I wanted to try out home. I then could not play wipeout. I could still play stardust but not wipeout. Maybe there is some truth to this. I ended up going back into the former account I dl wipeout with and had to redownload the game and key. I have not been account swapping since and have achieved several trophies in both stardust and wipeout. To play it safe I think I will stick to my own account for now (at least till they get this resolved). Perhaps why my stardust wasnt affected was because I had not earned a trophy??? People should not discredit this so quickly. It could happen to you.
@vitz3 and Lukax23 Why come in here and talk about how you don't have the problem? A lot of people do including me. I changed my password, shared home, went back to play Quantum of Solace and bam, it happened. That's all. So I'm proud that you don't have the problem, but a lot of people do. http://www.amazon.com/BEWAR... http://boardsus.playstation... http://www.vgevo.com/forums... http://www.ps3blog.co.za/20... http://community.eu.playsta...
humm i have changed my password alot because of leting some people use home and these never hapen to me so kool i think.. is these something that has hapen to any one here on n4g ?? (i dont think is a hide normal thing)
Ps3news.com = owned by M$
Jenzo = Owned by M$
Jenzo...can you please go back to humping your 360? Thanks.
Why don't you gang up with your 2 feeder friends and have them spoonfeed you mayonnaise & peanut butter until you choke on it, you fat sack of useless sh!t. Thanks.
Can you once again go back to humping your 360? Thanks again. "Fat" and proud. Watch it, this fat ass may turn you into roadkill! Seriously, if that's the best you 360 fanboys can do, then you're clearly lacking!
How can you turn me into roadkill when you are too fat to even get out of bed? I've seen shows on TV about people like you. It's not funny. You should be ashamed of yourself.
Good question Jenzo but you'd be surprised by how fast *fat* people can move. Give it up boy. You're not flattering and your insults merely amuse me.
This is an isolated thing, I have recently done exactly what this is talking about with no errors to my saves or trophies.
why i couldn't use my burnout save data. I had all the carbon cars to.
<grab popcorn and Soda and smile> It's always good to see PS3 fans fighting over PS3 issues from time to time. Specially when they call each other liar and stuff.
But who in the hell gave YOU the right to say anything of that kind, eh? The 360 fanboys are not exactly perfect, either. All THEY have to do is mention that they enjoy something about or on the PS3 and you're on them like flies on sh!t. See, everyone DOES have the right to disagree from time to time, even with their own "kind". Oh, and this is just two people overreacting, as I see no one else at arms with each other. Oh, and why are you so happy about video game fans at each other's throats like you think they are here? I don't think something like that would be anything to smile about (they're not fanboys). Basically, what I'm saying here is: Why the HELL did you decide to troll here saying THAT flamebaiting BS? Sometimes, the best thing to do is to just SHUT UP!! @JOLLY1 (since you decided to bring me into your own trolling comment there) & arrrgh: Sad? You don't think that him deciding to troll this story like that is sad? Oh wait, I forgot about your comment history which isn't that better than Blade's is. It's only TWO people fighting with each other and not the entire group of people like he's making out to be, and you didn't help any. He didn't bring anything new to the conversation, and he only wanted to post about how he liked gamers with PS3 fighting amongst themselves and how it made him smile. What the HELL does THAT have to do with ANYTHING in this article? He doesn't own a PS3 and would not know if the thing was factual or not, he has no experience with it or this issue, and he feels the need to post in an article that has nothing to do with the 360 and focus on a PS3 specific issue to brag about his like to see others argue? I'm sorry, but that's trolling and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would be "sad" or pissed off at something like that! And (and this is to arrrgh especially) that is the only way you'll get through to some of these fanboys. They never listen to anything else. It's annoying as all hell to mention it over and over and over again without result. How do you EXPECT people to act to a comment like that?
Why are they so angry with each other? Are they really that worried that something might not be perfect with their system? I think these kids really need to calm down. On a side note.....I think you made dark sad. *EDIT* First off I didn't write that there were millions of people effected by this. I don't care if it is 2 or 2,000. A few people are having issues with their ps3. The sony defense force doesn't want to hear it, so they are calling these people liars. That is....how do you say....childish. You are writing a text wall, some some reason. I just find this whole thing interesting. Yes blades comments was a little overboard, but seriously take a look in the mirror. Sprinkle some water on your face. CHILL!
You like it when people have these kind of problems? You are the kind of person that makes me wanna throw up. I feel sorry for your mother. She wakes up every day knowing that she gave birth to you.
Bladestar was right. You guys are pissed! lol
Captain Tuttle: They're so pissed, and they haven't yet gotten the error yet! Let's see how many of you, who accuse other of lying, try changing their PSN passwords now. I'm gussing not too many of you now, huh?
hey! I never said I enjoy when bad things happen to people's consoles... I said, (read my comment) it's nice to see Fans of the same camp!... You do not see that every day... usually you see PS3 fans vs Xbox 360 fans.. but this is not the same... we have PS3 fans vs PS3 fans... that's hilarious!
Maybe i shouldn't have posted this article all it has done was really work everyone up. Basically i intended this as a heads up to ALL ps3 owners, as i don't want anyone to have to deal with this problem as i have. I also want to spread the news to as many people as possible so that MAYBE, someday Sony will do something about this issue. Now let's try and figure some things out. I have a 60 GB launch ps3, does anyone who has encountered this have the same model? Let's leave the trolling somewhere else and try to get something good out of this article as i originally intended. P.S Darkpower My bad for overreacting earlier i get real defensive sometimes... its a curse.
No need to do so. I don't think you did anything wrong, actually. It's good that we are informed that this is happening. All it was is two people arguing and someone took that as everyone arguing with each other. Actually, compared to what happened to me (got raped of a bubble by the 360 fanboys, not that they had any business trolling here anyway, because I called Bladestar out for something you're seeing him backpedal on now up above), what you got for this was tame. Help me get that bubble back, and I'll find something to forgive you for (although I may go to the mods about this bubble rape, anyway). By the way, I have yet to get this problem because I haven't had a reason to change my password or user name yet, nor do I think I'll have one for the foreseeable future. I think this is just something that Sony may have to change because the system might be thinking that you're logging into another user on the PS3 and it could be locking that new user out of the saves (or certain parts of the saves), making them unusable. Maybe make it so the system has a way to recognize when someone actually does that and asks some questions to confirm it's a name/password change instead of someone else making a new account and authorizes everything for the new name/password. Might be worth investigating so no one else has this problem. Sony's been good about finding issues, so maybe this issue hasn't come up just yet on enough systems or users for them to take notice. Maybe they should nip it before it DOES get out of hand...just in case.
I have changed my password and nothing happened...
This hit me after I changed my password in 2.52. Lost my GTAIV, LBP, Resistance 2, Wipeout and Uncharted save files because of this, they all refuse to load because they say they were created by another user. Making another user with the same name after deleting the old one then reloading a backup still ends up with same result. May 2008 40gb here.
ive had the same problem when i changed my HDD to 250gb about 2months ago. i cannot load games like wipeout HD and Uncharted.
I think there is a lesson here... Don't Change your password!!! simple.
No worries for me... I only have one trophy(as I only have one game that supports it, SSHD)... lol. When SOCOM has trophies, then i'll start leveling. Muahahaahaaa!!
I guess some people are having this problem and some not, including me. That being said, they still need to fix this issue for those that are having problems.
I have contacted Sony since I began receiving this error, and they essentially told me that they have no idea what the problem is and have no solution.
many times (i was trying to protect my account from someone who had got access to it), and i've never had this problem. my guess is, it's an isolated incident, not something that will happen with ALL PS3's and accounts. but hey, it's the gaming media. if it's a mole hill, you can bet they'll find a way to make a mountain out of it.
I could care less what the media does with the story. I just want Sony to fix the damn error so I can use my game saves again.
i thought i was the only one with this problem. someone please help me. i called sony and they were no help at all!!!!!
Yeah i was wondering why my Wipeout HD was not working? I did change my PW at some point. OBAMA!!!
I mean you guys are acting like your consoles are RRODing like the xbox360, lol. Not as serious, calm down and soon Sony will fix it.
What is this guy talking about! I don't mean to be cruel but this situation is not as serious as this article makes it seem... I changed my e-mail as well as my password through the PS3 XMB as well as my password through the site account management. Nothing happened... I have to admit this article did worry me. If this issue is actually occurring it is happening to a very minimal amount of people.
My PS3 got the Code of Death. Error code 80010514. It means your Blu-Ray drive is f***ed and you need to have it repaired or replaced. It's a bigger issue than you'd think, but not so big that Sony even knows what 80010514 means.
That's what I don't get...What does the password has anything to do with it? I thought your save files were protected with your PSN ID. You can't change your PSN ID, can't you? You can only create a new one, if I'm not mistaken....I just don't see why the account password is so important if you can change it at will?
I think you have had something else cause this. I have changed my password many times myself as well and have never had any issues with my trophies. I feel for you if this is true. I would hate to do my games over again to get my trophies back. This is one of the reasons I routinely backup my game saves.
It isn't all bad. It allows you to save money by spending all your time playing over your old games from scratch. Look B3yond and you will realize that this is just something good, not bad! Keep the faith... PS3 and Trophies for the win. woohoo...!
