Rumor: Battlefield 2021Titled "Battlefield," To Feature "Abilities" Like COD Perks, & More Details

A new rumor has surfaced stating Battlefield 2021 will simply be titled "Battlefield." Players will have abilities like COD's perks, setting, campaign, and more details leaked.

RaidenBlack1116d ago

Oh no .. again one of those confusion inducing 'reboot' monikers.
It'll be referred to as BF2021 though, if the rumors turn out to be true.

excaliburps1116d ago

I think they want to start on a clean slate or something. But what's next though? Battlefield 2?

RosweeSon1116d ago

I think they just running out of ideas at this point 🤣✌🏻

philm871116d ago

No after "Battlefield" it's clearly Battlefield VI lol. Then Battlefield Zero, then Battlefield VII. Simples.

Nitrowolf21116d ago

yep, I prefer my number titling, even if they're getting high up there. But i guess there was some sort of study, least in films about how new viewers are likely to watch something without a number

neutralgamer19921115d ago

Why can't we get BF bad company 3?

RaidenBlack1115d ago

Becoz EA.
The new DiCE LA studio is involved in something. Don't know if its assisting DiCE Stockholm with this "Battlefield" or something else.

Cunnra1115d ago

We think we want it, but deep down we all know they would butcher it.

PapaBop1116d ago

As interesting as watching paint dry

thorstein1115d ago

Arousing curiosity if in accordance with fact or reality.

VerminSC1116d ago

The leaks I’ve read sound promising. “bF3/4 on steroids”, very destructible environments, 120+ players in game, back to its roots.

Yi-Long1116d ago

I really don't want that many players in a match. It's too much, the role and thus importance you can play will be too small, thus insignificant, the maps will have to be too big to fit all those folks in, so there will be an even bigger reliance on vehicles, and matches will mostly last too long again.

It's just too big, too much, too long, and in the end you'll have half-empty servers and not too much later you'll have empty servers. Nobody is gonna invest an hour of their time to play an insignificant part in a battle in a map that's too big.

fsfsxii1116d ago

nothing lasts forever, like bruh, its not even confirmed yet and you're coming up with top 10 reasons it sucks lmao

excaliburps1116d ago

I know what you mean. Hopefully, the maps will be decent that we won't have to trek long for engagements. Thing is, imagine if there are 128 players, and half of them are snipers hiding way up in the mountains or rooftops. Sadly, that's most likely how games will play out. :(

TheFirstClassic1116d ago

12v12 rush was always my favorite by far

VerminSC1116d ago (Edited 1116d ago )

Battlefield is iconic for large “battlefields”, go figure. Smaller maps work better for call of duty type gameplay.

Battlefield is suppose to feel grand in scale with all types of transportation, ground and air combat.

PapaBop1116d ago

Options are never a bad thing, BF has always catered to a variety of different players. 120+ players just sounds like something given dirty man birth from EA's marketing department.

1nsomniac1115d ago

Maps need to be huge and difficult to track along. That’s battlefield. If you want close quarters primarily infantry only gameplay go back to COD. Let battlefield return to being battlefield.

DJStotty1115d ago (Edited 1115d ago )

@Yi-Long

They will most probably allow both sizes of maps, for both counts of players, like they have done in previous Battlefield games.

UnholyLight1115d ago

I understand what you're saying, sometimes you feel like just a cog in the wheel. Yet, I've always found that I elevate my play when there's that many people. You are able to influence an entire squad with your actions like flanking or good team work using the Comms etc. It's one of the reasons that makes a Battlefield experience so exciting to me....the general chaos around you, where you can choose to blend in or take a different route and punch a hole somewhere else in the battlefield while everyone is too distracted with the main battle!

Silly gameAr1116d ago

Honestly, I'll believe it when I see it.

Fishy Fingers1116d ago

Isn't that how rumours work? :/

senorfartcushion1116d ago

It’ll be hard for them to go back to this particular post 9/11 period of War, so irl most likely be similar to the Modern Warfare reboot from two years ago.

ArnoDorian1116d ago

120 players? guess MAG is a long forgotten game

PapaBop1116d ago

Before MAG there was also Joint Operations which took inspiration from Battlefield, that offered 150 player servers

PapaBop1116d ago

How can you use BF 3/4 on steroids and back to it's roots in the same sentence? The last game literally was like 1942 on steroids.

Duke191116d ago (Edited 1116d ago )

Battlefield peaked with 1942 lol. Been a slow slide into a worthless cash cow

Yi-Long1116d ago (Edited 1116d ago )

1943 was perfection, but sadly only 3 proper maps. Battlefield 3 was okay, Battlefield 4 was a bit better, and they kinda lost what Battlefield was all about with the newer games.

JEECE1116d ago

Groan. BF1943 was such a dumbed down version of BF1942. Worst one in the series.

JEECE1116d ago

New term "Worthless cash cow." But yeah BF1942 was the best. Still among the best multiplayer shooters ever made, and blissfully free from the stupid gun leveling system that has infected nearly every FPS since COD 4.

TheFirstClassic1116d ago

Bc2 was where they peaked. Easily

PapaBop1116d ago

Agreed, loved that game and BFV

UnholyLight1115d ago

BFV was the worst Battlefield, bar none. Fun at times, but my god as a long time BF vet that game was disappointment after disappointment.

chrish19901044d ago

You've got to be very desperate for clicks to spread this around hours before the game's reveal. Zero respect.

annoyedgamer1044d ago

This isnt a leak, EA "leaks" stuff and calls it news before every major game reveal. Normally Id say its a stupid business move because its so obvious the trick they are playing but it appears I was wrong.

seanpitt231044d ago

What would make it good is bullet damage - for eg if you get blown up legs and arms fly everywhere you cannot get revived by medic, but if you only get shot by small arms fire and get downed you still can get revived by teammates etc… I just hope it’s not like battlefield 5 mechanics they went backwards compared to battlefield 1

DJStotty1044d ago

"Leaked" by EA's Origin store.

So, not a leak then?

EazyC1044d ago

Is that the actor Shea Whigham on the cover art? Looks a lot like him.

RosweeSon1044d ago

https://www.gamesradar.com/... Yeah they can’t afford to spare the resources for a 6-8 hour campaign. 😑🥴🤣 it’s a no wEAy from me

moriarty18891044d ago

lazy ass devs. $70 for an incomplete game.....becoming a trend. hard pass.

RosweeSon1044d ago (Edited 1044d ago )

Moriarty1889 cannot agree more. Just pure laziness and shamefully people will still Lap it up. Just play 5 wait for 7 and get 6 for free in 6-12 months thank me later, or just don’t 🤷🏻‍♂️😑 🤣 they could easily have hired a few more
Devs or pooled resources they got how many devs under the EA umbrella just laziness and typical EA greed expects full price gives another have ass yearly churned game, nah
Thing that annoys me most they still advertise and show off their games with all these screenshots from cutscenes that isn’t the game. It’s exactly the same with Fifa every year show close ups of the players looking incredibly detailed get the game its looks exactly same as last year as the camera is panned out so basically looks nothing like that make it out too.

Battlefield 2021 Reveal Livestream Countdown Launched, Social Media Profile Images Changes

With just a few days to go before Battlefield 2021 is revealed, it looks like EA is ready to bring the hype, as the Battlefield 2021 reveal livestream countdown has launched! There are also changes to the Battlefield Twitter account, as well as the DICE Twitter profile pics.

REDGUM1045d ago

Please be good, please be good.
As a battlefield fan from way back I'm super excited to see this new game come to life.
I know alot of you out there are all into the developer this & developer, EA this and that but I really couldn't give a s@#t about that. I'm just so keen on jumping into a new battlefield with some mates and having a blast with teamwork being essential as that is what battlefield is at it's core.
Counting down the hours to reveal now....

DJStotty1044d ago

I'm hoping it is good as well, the last one i extensively played especially online with friends, was battlefield 4.

seanpitt231044d ago

What would make it good is bullet damage - for eg if you get blown up legs and arms fly everywhere you cannot get revived by medic, but if you only get shot by small arms fire and get downed you still can get revived by teammates etc… I just hope it’s not like battlefield 5 mechanics they went backwards compared to battlefield 1

VerminSC1045d ago (Edited 1045d ago )

I use to ride my bike to gaming cafe after school and play battlefield 1942. I have fond memories of the old battlefields. I hope they restore its former glory so bad. The last few titles I haven’t enjoyed whatsoever.

Storm231045d ago

Haven't played a Battlefield game in years. Would love to be pulled back into the series. Excited to see what they are cooking up.

generic-user-name1045d ago

Just the fact it's not set in the past has me happy.

BenRC011044d ago

Yeah, if cod is ww2 then bf have got this round in the bag
