From the review: "For a game created by one person, New Star Soccer 4 is an incredible title. It is a great, solid football simulation and surely one of the better indie sports games ever created and although its visuals are outdated and there are a few bugs and glitches present, it still remains a quality title. NSS 4 is an incredibly complex game, yet easy to learn and master; it is a low budget release, yet with a more solid database than full budget titles and a match simulation engine that really, really rocks."
Test Freaks writes: "I know very little about soccer. I live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – a city where we care about soccer as little as a city possibly can. However, I do know about games. New Star Soccer 4 is an immense game about not only playing soccer, but managing the route to a successful life, career and portfolio. The title is a huge undertaking for such a small production team, and really shows the capabilities that independent developers have to create pretty great products. It does have a milieu of flaws, bugs and errors – but it redefines the way we normally look at soccer games, making the activity more involved and, dare I say, more interesting, than ever before."
Out of Eight writes: "The most popular worldwide sport is something called soccer. Yeah, I had never heard of it either. Apparently, you can't use your hands and you run around for ninety minutes kicking a ball. Weird, huh? This activity has given rise to plenty of computer games, giving the less athletically inclined an opportunity to "head" some "balls" on a "pitch." Most of these games fall into two categories: the arcade game (like Pro Evolution Soccer) or the management game (like the appropriately-named Football Manager). The New Star Soccer series takes a slightly different approach, giving you control over one player and guiding them to super stardom. The series in now in its fourth iteration (where have I been?) feature new 3-D graphics and a more polished presentation, or at least that's what I can gather from screenshots. Hey, fourth time's the charm, right?"
In the end, Operation Sports heartily recommends NSS4 to gamers, soccer fans, sports fans or anyone that wishes to have fun creating their own soccer legend. For $20, it is a nice bargain. At the very least, download the game and try it out; you will not be disappointed.
