Video game maker THQ Inc. said Friday its fiscal third-quarter earnings rose 32 percent on strong sales of its WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007, Cars and SpongeBob SquarePants games.
Net income climbed to $62.1 million, or 91 cents per share, from $46.9 million, or 71 cents per share, a year ago. Excluding stock-based compensation expense, profit from continuing operations totaled 97 cents per share in the latest quarter.
Sales increased 33 percent to $475.7 million from $357.8 million a year ago, driven by strong demand for WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007, Cars, Avatar, SpongeBob SquarePants and Destroy All Humans! 2.
