Yakuza 3 hitting Japan February 26

PS3Center writes:

The latest issue of Famitsu Weekly has confirmed that the latest entry into Sega's popular Yakuza series will be hitting shelves in Japan on February 26, 2009. Yakuza 3 will debut at a price of 7980 yen. (PS3, Yakuza 3)

It's confusing, the PS3 game that was released a while ago was Ryū ga Gotoku Kenzan! It was a spin-off, but a lot of Western media outlets started calling it Yakuza 3.

The PS2 game Yakuza 2 was released in NA and EU last month, almost 2 years after the Japanese version.

Both Yakuza 3 and Yakuza Kenzan! are already planned by the producer for release in North America. It might take a while, but since Yakuza is proving to sell well on PS consoles it's only a matter of time. I did a lot of scrounging for information on North American releases and you can see what the producer has to say on both on the link below. I love Yakuza and I look forward to a North American release of both eventually.

Read about both here:

Yes the source is old, but since the producer is keen on a western release, I await the games with eager anticipation. *wrings hands slowly*

So Killzone 2, Street Fighter IV and Yakuza 3 are launching all on the same month, Despite Yakuza 3 being a Japan Only Title for the moment. I expect a Huge Spike in Sales in Feburary thru Mid March. EPIC WIN.

and not to mention the (rumored) price cut

Plus Demon's Soul is also due out in February in Japan as well.

I seriously doubt that the Japanese release of Ryuu ga Gotoku 3 (Like a Dragon 3) will feature an English language soundtrack. They have no reason to, especially since most Japanese games to feature English dubs suck royally. Yakuza 2 had a Japanese only track and I for one was grateful for it.

@ Hellsvacancy :
99% that it's not, else the Yakuza spin-off would have been multilingual also... one can hope though right? :)

To bad Valkyrie of the Battlefield: Gallian Chronicles isn't selling in west, SEGA is giving great exclusive to PS3 and yet they dont sell. Yakuza 3 wont change that, unfortunately.

this and SFIV should kickstart 2009 for ps3 pretty nicely in Japan :)

Sega loves PS3, this game looks incredible. There is a 20 min., TGS 08' presentation video on gametrailers! Watch and download to your PS3.
