First details from Deus Ex 3

The first screens and info from Deus Ex 3 have been released. It is under development at the new Eidos Montreal studios.

The game takes place in the year 2027 and the main character Adam Jensen is a security guard at a biotech company called Sarif. One day the offices are stormed by men in black and almost everyone is killed... almost. Jensen survives and makes it his business to find out what has been going on.

We will have to wait until 2010 before Deus Ex 3 is released. It will be interesting to see if it can live up to the original after the sequel failed to set the world on fire.

Some Concept art after the jump...

I don't care what people say.I like both Deus Ex 1 and part 2.Truly the most deep story nestled within a unique shooter

I liked them as well. Which is why I have little faith in this game considering comments already made by the Lead Designer.

“There weren’t enough exciting, memorable moments. It was aimed more towards a simulation rather than a game experience,” he said. This is something he plans to change with his version of the RPG-Shooter.

Now we will have a cover system instead of shadows and COD4 auto heal.

I am at the point where I think games would be better if COD4 had never come along.

Also Cover Systems wrongly employed, and they almost always are, wind up as pure trash because they fail to note that the ability to take cover behind something is more important than a cover system. It also forces level design away from realism and instead leads developers to dot the landscape with objects for cover.

The story is basicly just like Deus Ex 2. Same thing happend there.

But imo Deus Ex has always delivered the best graphics of it's gen. And I can see this being almost in the line of Heavy rain. But overall I'd much rather have game content than extravagant graphics which takes up too much space for anything else to fit there.

I wouldn't rule out auto-heal completely. If, and ONLY if, limb damage/crippling is retained. You can auto heal vitality all you want but if your legs are broken and and arm is broken, you can't run and you can't shoot, meaning you'll die pretty quickly if you engage in a firefight. Limb damage should have to be attended to just like in the original.
Moreover, this game is competing with Fallout 3 for Action/RPG/FPS glory this generation, and by all rights should be able to achieve it if it sticks to it's roots. But we know it won't.

Ugh...Eidos...I'll retain my judgment till I see gameplay.

JeanPool cannot wait for this one.

TheColbertinator3313d ago

Steven Colbert knows Jean Pool is waiting right now.Now please don't copy Dark Sniper. For Dark Sniper is the true 3rd person speaker.Jean Pool should realize that.

JeanPool3313d ago

JeanPool knows not what you are speaking of. Dark Sniper does not make himself seen, JeanPool thinks.

I got turned off this game when they mentioned that the first Deus Ex was "too slow" or something and they wanted to turn it into a generic action/shoot-em-up game.

I'll reserve judgement until I've seen more of course, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I'm the hugest Deus Ex fan and can't wait for the third one. I had so many enjoyable moments playing the original Deus Ex on PC and Deus Ex Invisible War for the Xbox. It's going to be hard to wait until 2010.
