Factor 5 President Addresses 'Superman' Game Rumors, Health Of Studio

Not much has been heard of from development studio Factor 5 since last year's poorly received PlayStation 3 dragon epic "Lair."

But recent reports have the studio best known for a stream of highly regarded "Star Wars: Rogue Squadron" flight-combat games back in the news , this time for supposedly having been making a "Superman" game for collapsing game publisher Brash.

Multiplayer reached out to Factor 5 president Julian Eggebrecht to find out what the story is with "Superman" and what fans of the company should know about the studio's status. He provided the following not terribly cryptic statement:

"We are working on several projects, both multi-platform as well as single-platform titles for the Wii which you will hear a lot more about very soon.

"One of our large-scale multi-platform projects was started with Brash because it is a dream property for us, hasn't been given its dues in gaming since the Atari 2600, and has a huge universe to draw from. It also is a long-term project because we were not wiling to compromise quality at all from the start and make this into what we as fans, and hopefully every fan of the property - movies old or new, comic-book, or TV - wants to play. If we have delivered the ultimate fantasy fulfillment in a galaxy far, far away, this one certainly is intended to do the same for a completely different universe.

"With that said, things are obviously in flux and we hope that the game proves to be as indestructible as our hero…"

Eggebrecht didn't quite say the word "Superman" there, but it doesn't take superpowers to read between those lines. Any bets on what those "titles for the Wii" are?

sounds to me with that little hint that the game will be another Star Wars game. Although I hope not since there are many out there now, and in the making.

Here's hoping the Wii game is Kid Icaris

Yeah, but if it's a Factor 5 Star Wars game, it means it's Rogue Squadron.

Read the whole sentence:

"IF we have delivered the ultimate fantasy fulfillment in a galaxy far, far away, [then] this one certainly is intended to do the same for a completely different universe."

Good point. Let me take it even further.. Can Square not make an RPG. Can Rockstar make a good game that doesnt contain sex, drugs, violence or hookers? Stick to what you know. Do you want GTA5 or a crappy RPG? FF13 or a FF action game involving zombies? Maybe intead of MGS5 they can do Metal gear of war and have it be a button smashing side scroller.

Kid Icarus, Pilot Wings, Superman Wii version not exclusive, New IP multi plat, New IP Wii exclusive.. That would be my guess anyway

"One of our large-scale multi-platform projects was started with Brash because it is a dream property for us, hasn't been given its dues in gaming since the Atari 2600," That isnt Superman.. He has had games since the 2600 and all of them were far better than the 2600 game..... Just hit me.. Went and looked at the list of 2600... Buck Rogers..
That or X-man.. Only two with Comic books in the entire 260 library that hasnt had another game on another console.

Julian said that with their Wii engine, they could get almost the same amount of detail as their PS3 one, so if this incredible for Wii looking game is a Superman game, I will be very, very disappointed.
