Today, the publisher announced that Visual Concepts is returning to football with All-Pro Football 2K8. The game is scheduled for release on "next generation video game systems" this summer.
I always prefered the 2k series more and saw EA buying the liscense for the NFL as a desperate and cheap move. I hope this game rocks.
been a 2k guy since dreamcast. madden has been downhill since 93 on sega genesis. glad to see the champ is back. wouldn't hurt to see that last-gen price structure either. ; )
Great news!!! I wonder if they bring back the first person mode...good idea but tough to play! Maybe they can tweak it better on the next gen systems!
finally... Madden be prepared to get your ase WHOOOOOPED
they can't include current players because of the exclusive deal with EA, but if they bring this back at 19.99 like they did with 2k5, it's going to be all over for Madden when their licensing agreement expires because the engine, the gameplay and the features are far superior in 2k.
2k games rock I love playing them. They have always been better then the EA series an dI can't wait to see more about 2K8. The best part is that it comes out this summer, so you know they are almost done with the game and they are just announcing it now. EA best pay attention.
Make it next gen only like they say. I don't want to play a xbox/ps2 port. I wonder how long they have been working on this.
I moved my regular xbox to the back bedroom and there beside it sits my copy of 2k5. it still blows today's versions of madden out the water. i can finally buy another football game...and now i am that much closer to being able to fully retire my 1st xbox, lol.
Great to hear! Competition is the only way to get the "new innovations" everyone wants. Just because EA has the license does not mean other developers can't try and topple the "giant".
I have to wonder though, have they been working on a superior, updated, or new engine the entire time the franchise has been on hiatus, or were they waiting on the green light to start development? I certainly hope it's the former, as the 2K games have never felt rushed in my opinion, and to see a rushed one released would be the biggest travesty of the year. I've got faith in the team though, so I believe(and hope) that it will once again be the superior football franchise.
From what i understand they have been working on this for awhile. let's hope
Nice! Great to hear! Competition is the only way to get the "new innovations" everyone wants. Just because EA has the license does not mean other developers can't try and topple the "giant". # 9 you are 100 percent correct in your statement.... Man if everyone else on these boards would think like you... Thats why I can't understand when fanboys love hearing bad news about another consoles hoping it will fail... Anyway on the original topic... this is outstanding news. I loved the 2k series over the madden... Cannot wait...
devil dog, all it takes is a little mention of EA and all gamers unite far and wide to give big EA the one finger salute.
it about time. now EA got some competition. better for gamers
EA sports has had two installments on next gen systems, and both have lacked all the features of their last gen counterparts. EA sports has become very complacent now that they know they are the only choice in town. I have always been an EA guy, but i haven't bought a new game in over 4 years because the quality is sooo bad. I hope this 2k game is enough for the NFL to take away their liscence when they get a chance.
how many years would we have to put up with that crap that is madden?i can't wait until this comes out.it's already bought.best basketball, best football, best hockey,well..the only baseball game, but it's good.can't wait for the gameplay, can't wait for the presentation.this should be top story.
I had never been a Madden fan. I always prefer Sega's football starting from the old Joe Montana's. The late 2k football games were not only better but also brought many inovative features to the way we play video game football. EA seems no to care and year after year Madden gets worse. Finally I'll be happy to get a new football game and maybe put to rest my Dreamcast 2k1 NFL.
playing joe montana 94 and dieon sander's prime time football 95. old school classics. i'd rather play the nes version of tecmo bowl over madden.
2K8. WOW! : ) >
if it's Wii online i'll get it, if not, oh well.
Still playing 2K5, 11th season. Played one season of Madden '06. I just can't do it. Seriously, look at NBA Live compared to 2K. I rest my case.
if they make up fictional teams and players and so on. If the game plays as well as their past edition then finally we can be rid of the stink that is EA. Give me some made-up teams and players with a solid engine and game play. Save some money and forget signing those retired players anyway.
after this releases and madden is once again shown up, EA will probably try to buy the rights to the "concept" of football, lol. j/k
Grown Folks Talk - playing joe montana 94 and dieon sander's prime time football 95. old school classics. i'd rather play the nes version of tecmo bowl over madden. I love Tecmo Bowl and Deion Sanders Prime Time those games are still hot!! I still like last-gen Madden though but New-Gen Madden sucks,it's too slow
