Project xCloud is Microsoft's game streaming service which allows you to play Xbox One games without a console. Four more games are now playable on preview.
I would love a remaster of Destruction Derby that was ps1 days
Personally Id love a Motorstorm remastered collection. And then maybe even Motorstorm VR.
Free games? In THIS economy? Well, in exchange for your eyeballs at least. (Figuratively, not literally... although don't give them ideas.)
What you need to know
• Microsoft Gaming CFO Tim Stuart recently described how in the future, you may be able to view ads to gain access to Xbox Game Pass.
•Recent Xbox Series X|S code strings we've seen seem to corroborate this, with the ability to earn 15 minute blocks of Xbox Game Pass access in exchange for watching ads.
•Game Pass across PC, Xbox, and Cloud features hundreds of games in exchange for a low monthly fee.
Hmm..... I used to earn GP by way of searching with Bing but I hear the rewards program is being revamped. I still earn points but it seems they did change the amount you get per search. I dont know how i feel about this. It sounds like they are going the Youtube route where right in the middle of something you are enjoying, an ad pops up and you have to sit through it (if it does not have a skip option after 5 seconds).
I pay for my GP access, so this wouldnt really bother me but I can see it affecting plenty of others. It reminds me of the rumor about how some game companies (EA, Ubisoft) were toying with the idea of running ads before you ever get into the game. Like the old days of renting movies from Blockbuster and not being able to skip the previews (yes, some DVD had a non skip option for previews). I pay for stuff so i wouldnt have to deal with ads, but even now they are encroaching the very things i pay a premium for.
This whole thing is just..... a bad idea.
Such a shame cause even if you don't think this is a big deal what's next they put ads on ultimate gamepass and the free one gets more. This is disgusting. Yes even if Sony goes this route I'll feel the same. We got enough ads in this world ffs
You don't say?/S
You mean the company that puts ads on the dashboard, tried to force a camera on Xbox One to push ads is experimenting with ads for game pass access? No. You must be joshing. Lol
Wouldn't put it past them.
Daily Video Game writes: "Xbox Store is running a new digital game sale that features games from THQ Nordic and Handy Games on sale right now, offering big discounts on several of their popular titles for Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One users!"
Just recently played Halo 5 on 5mbs speeds. Unfortunately game was damn near unplayable but when playing on 200mbs game ran almost flawlessly with almost no detection it was a stream. 2 different audiences not everyone has 200mbs to play if this is for gaming on the go few establishments offer anywhere near speeds to sustain a playable stream. This goes for xcloud, stadia, psnow if they ever jump on board....
Streaming is unfortunately probably the future but it is certainly not ready yet
Its crazy that even in beta, xCloud is demolishing Stadia number of playable games on an shipped service! Microsoft is definitely flexing their prowess.
Xcloud is indeed the real deal. Some gamers used to mock Microsoft and its cloud promise to make our consoles more capable by offloading heavy data situations to a server farm to free up the console's CPU to allow better efficiency. To my understanding, I pictured a situation where devs would create games that were too graphically intense to run on the console's raw power, so whenever the console needed some muscle the servers would step in to help out. As complicated as that sounds, I assumed that Microsoft's engineers had a solution to make it happen. I just felt that it would confuse the market if a graphic heavy game could only run efficiently with the help of the cloud. At the time, I asked myself why not just run the entire game from the servers instead of just transferring pieces of that here and there. Long story short, it's 2019 and Microsoft's vision has evolved into Xcloud, aka the Netflix of gaming. I've had the beta for about a month or more. I've been impressed with how smooth it runs over wifi, especially since it's still in beta. I think Microsoft's soft pacing to introduce cloud gaming to consumers is paying off. They aren't shoveling it down people's throats as a console killer like Google's approach. It brilliantly embraces traditional consoles and a cloud solution. I've tried Xcloud streaming and the option to use my existing console as a server. Using the Xcloud Streaming service doesn't require a console at all, just your existing bluetooth wireless controller and an android phone - I use my Galaxy S9. Once it's up and running, there's a notification signal that notifies whether you're using a 2.4 GHZ network or 5 GHZ network. It will suggest using a 5 GHZ network. There's definitely a difference in performance between the two. Each time I try the service out it seems to run better - a sign that Microsoft are making tweaks to perfect it. I've also tried out the console streaming feature 75 miles away from home. It blows my mind that I can play every digital game that's on my hard drive or whatever game that's in the disc drive. This feature is said to be free. Both options run well over a decent wifi connection. Most internet speeds in eastern VA have a minimal speed of 50 mbps. Those numbers are modest and the service has run well on speeds lower than that during my testing. I think Microsoft have struck gold, especially considering Xcloud will be rolled into Game Pass Ultimate when it's finalized. If the beta is this good, I'm optimistic the final product will be the paradigm.
