Toronto Thumbs: LittleBigPlanet Review

A simple mantra the developer Media Molecule has preached to the gaming community during the many months leading up to the release of the blockbuster PS3 release. As with all games that get the hype and attention that games like LittleBigPlanet did, nobody could be sure that the game would meet the expectations set. I'm here to let you know that without a doubt Sackboy and company have not only managed to shatter all expectations, but managed to raise the bar by which future games in the platforming genre will be judged by.

A platformer at heart, LittleBigPlanet begins with a great introduction of the game by way of the opening credits which cover the basic premise and controls. From there, players are eased into the story mode which consists of different themed environments broken up into 4 levels each. I immediately noticed that although the levels of these themed areas were similar in look and feel, they were very very different in design, each one building upon the ideas of the last and offering a completely unique experience. This fact was the second of many "wow" moments I've had since putting the disc into my console."
