Some of you will scrape together enough cash to own both major music games with all their cool peripherals this season. The rest of you will have to choose between "Guitar Hero World Tour" and "Rock Band 2." Both games are fantastic and flawed at the same time. At the end of the day, you'll probably check out the set lists and the downloadable content and pick which one is right for you.
But you want to know how "Guitar Hero World Tour" stands up the competition. Right?
It stands tall my friends.
The new game offers online and offline gameplay modes including "Band Career" and 8-player "Battle of the Bands," which allows two full bands to compete head-to-head online. The game also boasts the much-hyped Music Studio. A lot of critics have dismissed this feature as too difficult to be worth the effort. Phoenix Games disagrees. While they may not have the time, patience or talent to create anything decent on the Music Creator, they know there are people in the gaming/music community who will do just that. Never underestimate a dedicated gamer. (Think "Red vs. Blue." 'Nuff said.)
