Reading Between the Lines: Story of Gears of War

The interactive entertainment medium has become part of the zeitgeist. For years now videogames have captured the attention of the masses, rivaling Hollywood's biggest studio pictures and the New York Times bestsellers list in terms of market influence and cultural pervasiveness. Still, something is keeping games from being embraced by high-brow critics of culture, many of whom are loathe to admit that the medium is worthy of their attention.

One way that developers could curtail this impression is by focusing on improving the storylines in games, and GameSpy would like to take the opportunity to bring their my experience with Gears of War 2 as an example of what not to do... but also of how to do it right.
