The title says it all, MGS4 demo is available on the Japanese PSN store. It weighs in at about 1400mb.
A bit late?
With this game, better late than never
they want to hype it up before the Christmas rush im guessing
It's on EU PSN store also.
How many trolls have you seen try to slander the controls without even trying MGS4's new style? The more people that actually get to try this game for themselves and feel the difference, the more that will buy this masterpiece.
Maybe there's more to this "extended" rumour than Konami are letting on...
even though i have the game...just 2 see what section they decided to use
90% its the first 20 or so minutes of the game
I'm curious about that too, and I also think it's probably just the beginning of Act I. Probably up until the part where you find Drebin at the most.
How about putting the Metal Gear Solid 1 up for purchase??? Eh eh eh? Doesn't sound too difficult now does it? I promise you that you'll all get lots of money from it. You like money don't you konami? That's a good girl, go on, put it up on the store. You know you want the good people of the worlds money don't you? Just how you like it as well, little to no effort! C'mon!!!
I wonder if it'll be up on the US store today?
That is the plan. Expect it unless Sony Q&A pushes it back. But it should be up today for US as well.
Excellent downloading now, have not purchased the game yet as not sure on this style of game, I am sure it is awesome lol, good to finally get a demo for us gamers who are not too keen on the genre ( Thats what demos are for lol)
Just don't pop its cherry.
i wonder if they'll compress the demo like the other demos... that would take the 1080P experience right out the door.
Its already been posted that the demo is in the Japan store one news post down.
What's the point give up also you can pick up MGS4 in the bargain bin in japan for £2.00 no one wants the game it was a FLOP.
mgs4 sold 4.33 million in just 5 month while gears sold 5 million in almost 2 years. which one is flop now, by the way i'm grinding your sister ass while i was replying your comment..
Gears was a new IP...Let just see how Gears 2 does.

-MGS4 TRAILER on Japanese PSN Store- Fixed Just kidding...
@Cyber http://n4g.com/industrynews... straight from the horses mouth. 4.33 million copies sold so far.
@ finalfantasykid that was i nice way to shut cybers mouth lol bubbles for u my friend
Everyone should have this title in their collection. No demo needed. But it's great for the late majority i suppose..
I know a lot of people who skipped MGS4 (wrongly IMO) due to getting angry with particularly MGS2 and abandoned the series so a demo seems a nice idea, if only to show how different the game is to the rest of the series.
Er right fine, if thats wwhat the big K and S want to do, can't see the point really.
MGS4 is still the best game ever. i think its good that they release the demo.
im gonna download it despite having the game... just to see if it's also the best demo ever
Wow. >.> 1400mb, god what is that the first cutscene. LMFAO. droids are getting really sad when the want to download a video and say "ITS GAMEPLAY I SWEAR" -nai-
Any xbox exclusive get 10/10 from ign this year? No.. i didn't think so. Owned lol.
Coming into a Ps3 thread about a "demo" being released in "Japan" and bashing on the best games ever. Damn you are sad... Why don't you go play Splintercell "I'm going back to the drawing board because I am scared of going up against the great game that is Metal Gear Solid 4" Conviction!
is it in english or japanese?
MGS4 has failed to sell like they'd hoped, so they release a demo, 6 months late, out of desperation. TRUE AAA exclusives don't NEED a demo. You'll NEVER see a demo for a Halo or Gears game....NE-VER.
Konami just published on their quarter earnings that MGS4 has sold in less than 4 months 4.33 million copies. That's already more than what MGS3 sold. The only one that fails here is you, stupid un-facted fanboy.
Nice spin Thwip.
And they just dropped the price in The Netherlands to 35 Euro. That's just a few months after its launched. That's no good sign. It seems they want to keep sales up to get invested money back. Gears 1 has been full price more then a year because sales were pretty steady probably and the investment had paid off. Konami/Sony seems to be afraid the sales for this game would die otherwise. I think Konami will see the possibility of 22 mln. new gamers as a target group for MGS4 on the 360.
think of it as a reminder for all those that have newly purchased Playstation 3's, and may be a bit overwhelmed by the PLETHORA of quality exclusive and multi-platform titles released in the past 4 weeks (from SOCOM, to Fallout 3, to Resistance 2, to Motorstorm 2, to Bioshock, to Eternal Sonata, to Little Big Planet, to Valkyria Chronicles, to Mirror's Edge, to Dead Space, to Far Cry 2, to....f*ck! ALL of those games NEED to be in a gamer's library, regardless of the console they own. seriously), with more coming soon. it's Konami saying, "hey, in case you missed the June release because you just got your PS3, here's a sample of GOTY 2008 contender, Metal Gear Solid 4." it's no different than movie studios and movie theaters pimping the previous years Oscar contenders by re-airing them in the theater. there are still PLENTY of non-MGS gamers who may be pleasantly surprised at the direction the series has taken gameplay wise. many MGS fans left the series after part 2 (which is a travesty, considering that parts 3 and 4 are the pinnacle of the series in my opinion). it amazes me how well Metal Gear Solid 4 shakes things up gameplay wise, and yet and still manages to satisfy my love for the MGS style of gameplay. i love being able to play it how i want it; stealthy or commando, and the game adjusts accordingly. you can be a master of stealth, or Arnold Schwarzenegger in any of his 80's movies, and be perfectly at home in MGS4. and with the maps as large as they are, it's almost "open world" in the direction and paths you can take. also; "Emotion Ammo," probably one of the best inventions in gaming. nothing is more satisfying than shooting an enemy with a "Laughing ammo", then shooting another with the "Crying ammo," and a third with the "Rage ammo," and watch the fireworks when the "Rage" guy goes mad on both. good times, and i wish more games had that level of creativity. anyway, MGS4 is literally a masterpiece. it's like, the Citizen Kane of gaming in terms of the passion put into the project, and the quality you get out of it. for MGS fans, it is pure bliss, as it manages to wrap up 20 years of gaming history, with, as far as i can tell, ALL of the plot holes of previous entries dealt with, and yet newcomers to the series will find the story insightful, often humorous, although many will not appreciate levels like "Act 4," because of it's reliance on your previous history with MGS4, although gameplay wise, the act is quite strong. i can't recommend the game enough, and hopefully the demo will bring some folks back to the series that left after their disappointment with part 2. hell, i hope they give 3 a try too, if they still have their PS2's or have the BC PS3 (like i do).
