Absolutely it can. As long as EA doesn't pull any of its usual BS. If this is truly a linear, 3rd person, story-driven action game with absolutely no Microtransactions then it has a huge opportunity to redeem Star Wars video games.
Respawn can make something truly unique here. I trust Respawn.

Respawn will make a beautiful game. EA will hack it up into a million pieces and sell it back to us through DLC and season pass content. In other words, probably not.
You're asking the wrong question... what you should be asking is "Can EA leave this game the hell alone this time..."
It doesn’t need to redeem Star Wars games they’ve always been hit and miss but have been some great ones over the years battlefronts 1/2 weren’t terrible it was ea that ruined it the game itself was fine EA need he redemption yet again.
