Can Jedi: Fallen Order Redeem Star Wars Video Games?

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has finally been unveiled to a ravenous reception. The question is whether it will live up to what fans want.

CorndogBurglar1828d ago

Absolutely it can. As long as EA doesn't pull any of its usual BS. If this is truly a linear, 3rd person, story-driven action game with absolutely no Microtransactions then it has a huge opportunity to redeem Star Wars video games.

Respawn can make something truly unique here. I trust Respawn.
I just don’t trust EA.

Respawn will make a beautiful game. EA will hack it up into a million pieces and sell it back to us through DLC and season pass content. In other words, probably not.

You're asking the wrong question... what you should be asking is "Can EA leave this game the hell alone this time..."

RosweeSon1828d ago

It doesn’t need to redeem Star Wars games they’ve always been hit and miss but have been some great ones over the years battlefronts 1/2 weren’t terrible it was ea that ruined it the game itself was fine EA need he redemption yet again.

CorndogBurglar1828d ago

Well......this kind of true.

Going back to the old Star Wars PC games there were tons of fantastic games. The Dark Forces and Jedi Knight Series. The X-Wing/Tie Fighter series (which I would give my 3rd nut for a remake). That squad based FPS with clone troopers. But with those also came some pretty stinkers like Rebellion and the multiple poor attempts at making an RTS.

Even the consoles have had great games like Rogue Squadron. Episode 1 Racer. But then again.....Obi Wan that launched with the original Xbox was terrible.

But overall I think MOST Star Wars games were at least good.

Yeah they never games of a generation normally but as a fan I’ve had many great times with majority loved shadow of the empire on n64 not the best by any stretch but enjoyed it haha pod racing was great always wanted to play KOTOR they should make a new one.
Rogue squadrons were great tho remember getting one with GameCube on launch.
Star Wars on nes was pretty epic tho and the trilogy on SNES was cool hard when I was a youngun tho haha

They're not looking to acquire, but are they looking to be acquired? That's the big question now with companies like EA, T2, etc.

badboyz09257d ago

EA relies way to much on their licensed ip's which isn't a good thing for a Buyer.

I really want them to finish up Cal's story so LucasFilm are free to use him in a TV show or Film if he survives in the end anyway

Cal or Ezra should be rebuilding the Jedi Temple Order...not Rey.

CrimsonWing69258d ago

Please do. These Jedi games have been exceptionally top tier.

StarkR3ality257d ago

Other than their performance but yeah

CrimsonWing69257d ago

I didn’t really run into performance issues, but I played it on PS5.

neomahi258d ago

We don't want it, let someone else develop Star Wars

Tacoboto257d ago

1. Yes we do want it
2. One of the biggest recent announcements has been Star Wars Outlaws, developed by someone else.

all of those are good. I'd add some honorable mentions like Dark Forces and the original vector graphics arcade game.
