Why no MMO feels right for you anymore

I enjoyed this read. This was me 10 years ago when I gave up WOW and MMOs for good. I have great memories, but life has changed. I can't make those same kind of commitments anymore, especially scheduled raids like it's a job I have to be punctual for. I have a wife and 2 year old now. I have to be able to pause or quit a game at any moment without notice. So much of this sounds familiar though. Signing in, trying to get back into it, but just not feeling the same. My very first MMO was Dark Age of Camelot, which was around 2002. I also spent almost 2 years w FFXI Online, then SWG. I'm done for the foreseeable future. It was fun while it lasted though.

Ff xiv is amazing as a solo player. You have to get into public dungeons so often but you can play on your own terms

For me, it was WoW. Started playing during law school, around early 2006. Have great memories, but towards the end of my time in that game, it started to feel to much like a job. Fun wasn't part of the equation at that point. During that time, I also got a PS3, and from that point to now I was into consoles. Loved WoW, and still remember all the places I visited in that game, as though they were almost real.

Pretty much the same adult life took over and I had no time for wow also ended up getting a 360 / PS3 at the time and was more concerned with playing through different campaigns which only took 6 hours or so when I had free time. Also back in 2006 wows graphics were looking fairly dated it would still be a few years before they were revamped with cataclysm I think it was

Everquest will always be the hardcore best MMO and nobody has the patience (or time) to play something like it. It’s all instant gratification MMOs now which suck balls

Segata1860d ago

I can dedicate a lot of time into an RPG. Hundreds of hours but I am working to the end of the game so I can move onto the next. MMO's I always felt overwhelmed and never really going anywhere. I lose interest so fast even PSO2 & DQX. I did finish Star Trek Online stories because I was able to play it more like a jank single player game.

I guess the point of a MMO is it doesn't end and it's always expanding.

But I know what you mean I've lost count if the hours I've spent in games like fallout. But I can't bring myself to pick up a MMO again I don't really want to spend $15 per month playing wow and grinding it out only to have another expansion release so I can do the same thing again even if I do miss it at times

Time changes, and as of today, looter shooter and BR are the new MMO.

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
