Dying Light 2’s producer Kornel Jaskula walks GamesRadar through Techland's pitch for the future of open-world sandbox design
Sounds like a big improvement over the first game in every way which is saying a lot. Can’t wait! “It can be easy to scoff when Techland announces that Dying Light 2 might indeed be the “first game of its type”. But after seeing it in action, after speaking with the team working so diligently behind the scenes, we’re honestly struggling to find ways to argue with the assertion.”
As long as it's not an EPIC store exclusive then I'll consider it.
The first was amazing, and I loved the crazy vehicle action in the expansion
Seriously ready for this game. Had the best time playing this game when it first came out. Even though the last boss battle was extremely disappointing. But the Co op and other game features more than made up for it.
Especially that mini game dlc. Where you play together to do the rounds then at the end gotta fight each other. I remember instantly turning to my ex and shooting her in the face. That was worth the argument later that night!
Is that what caused her to become the ex?
Literally JUST finished replaying the first game. Great game. Looking forward to #2
The DLC/expansion was really good too. Very much excited to see how they build upon the first game with Dying Light 2.
Are there vehicle's in the new one? I have not seen any in the game footage i have seen so far
I look forward to this on the same wave length as Cyberpunk 2077 - in that they'll be doing something grand.
Can’t wait for this
The first game should have been goty over destiny, or whatever else won. Can't wait for this game. As long as parkour is a big focus over vehicles im happy
Couldn't have won against the likes of Witcher 3, Bloodborne, Pillas of Eternity and a few others.
Witcher came out the following year (even though its better than the witcher imo) I thought.
Pretty sure they both came out in 2015 (the witcher and dying light) and the witcher 3 was probably the most popular pick for game of the year... Its kindof funny to me how people look back on destiny as being beloved. I'm pretty sure that at launch it got modest reviews and not a great player reaction either.
Honestly don't think DL is better than Witcher. It's gameplay is impeccable, but everything else is standard open world stuff. With Chris Avellone at the helm, we can definitely see a lot of its weaknesses covered.
Dying light 1 was really a gamers game and sounds like this is more, much more of the same in a good way:)
Now hold on a second! I really enjoyed the first game and am excited for this sequel but I hope they're not doing a Peter Molyneux here :)
Love what I'm hearing and reading about Dying Light 2! Some truly innovative things Techland is incorporating into DL2. I enjoyed the first game and just started The Following DLC and to say I'm excited for the sequel is an understatement!
I doubt it's the "first game of it's type" but I enjoyed the first game quite a bit and it looks like the sequel is shaping up to be just as fun.
I own Dying Light 1 and it is a very good game. I enjoy it a lot and manage to finish it.
But it’s the second of its type
I bought the first one on sale last month on a whim and instantly got drawn in despite hesitation. Absolutely love it. We've been burned in the past by games overpromising new systems that ended up being very shallow. Watchdogs among others come to mind. I'd like to believe that what they are describing here isn't just fluff on the surface, an illusion that what you do actually matters, but that it really does raise the bar. I can't wait to find out.
I’m super hyped for this game. Dying Light 1 was fantastic.
These guys are a class above many of the other devs out there.
sounds great so far
No guaranteed game play footage = all word play. I will believe it when I play it.
This was a good article, love The First Dying Light. But one thing is atleast allow players to customize their characters. The same guy in different clothes kills it for me after you’ve beaten everything in the game. But their vision for the 2nd game is awesome I can’t wait 😊
Was that an interview with Peter Molyneux ?
Remains to see. Cuz zombie games are such a novelty anways
Fetch quests kill most open world games for me .
Just like RDR 2 was? Lol..
Dead Island rehashes isn't the first game of its kind .. try harder .. you just made another parkour rehash of the first game
I love Dying Light and have a nothing to but respect for Techland. But I've heard promises of everyone choice affecting the world before. I'm gonna be cautiously optimistic about this one. I just hope they can deliver.
Looks great. It looks like ken levines “narrative legos” coming into fruition.
