Switch vs PS4 in Japan – VGChartz Gap Charts – December 2018 Update

December 2018 is the 22nd month that the Nintendo Switch has been available for in Japan. During the latest month the gap grew in favor of the Switch in Japan when compared to the PlayStation 4 by 719,602 and by 1.81 million units in the last 12 months. The PlayStation 4 is currently ahead the Switch by 1721,979 units.

The PlayStation 4 launched in February 2014 in Japan, while the Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017. The Switch has sold 6.86 million units, while the PlayStation 4 sold 7.58 million units through December 2018.

So it will take one more year before there are more Switch in Japan than PS4. Assuming everything stays the same in one years time.

This was end of December when ps4 had a 700k lead, as of this week mediacreate the lead Sony have is at 500k it will definitely not take a whole year if more games came out it happen sooner the next new game is around April I think so I’m guessing July the latest with April the earliest

Switch at 7.3 million hardware ps4 at 7.8 million

It’s only short time until switch pass Sony

Uh no. By this week Media Create (Wednesday) Switch will be only less than 420K-445K units behind the PS4.
Last week it was 489,190 units behind the PS4.
It will be by end of March or April where the Switch will outsell the PS4.
