Xbox 360 is a lot better than the Xbox one and it's clear to see why. Xbox one is a massive failure and it'll follow Xbox next gen as well. I can't see a sane informed gamer buying a Xbox next generation unless they are a fanboy.

“Gap change in latest month: 643,972 – X360”

“Gap change over last 12 months: 3,532,567 – X360”

“Total Lead: 5,002,844 – X360”

There’s no turning this sinking ship around.

darthv7235d ago

Jag, you talk a lot of crap about the xbo platform but even you can't ignore the fact that despite there not being any major exclusives or detrimental issues causing people to re-purchase the system (like RRoD)... the bottom line is it still continues to sell.

It must be doing something right.

It's like the little engine that could.

Srhalo35d ago

Why do you bring up RROD every month, that was done years ago, the xbox slim was out by this point.

Gap change over last 12 months: 3,532,567 – X360

darthv7235d ago

It is brought up because it is a very real situation that lasted for years even after the slim released. There were a lot of potential failures still in circulation.

It didnt all of a sudden just stop when the slim came out. That put an end to the issue from the factory but not to those who had them in their possession.

Srhalo35d ago

So you’re trying to pass off that nearly 6 years into the life of the 360 a problem that was fixed two years into the life of the system and was four models prior is still resulting in 3.5 million consoles per year nearly 50% of the total consoles sold were RROD? Wow the 360 only sold half of the PS3 which was PlayStation’s worst console. Or would you rather admit the truth that the xbox one is selling at a considerably slower rate than the 360 even though the generation is considably larger than last generation.

Artemidorus35d ago

Massive failure would be Microsoft ditching the console altogether not making a family of consoles and still providing for it.

darthv7235d ago

Jag thinks everything MS does is a massive failure.

Srhalo35d ago

The xbox one is a failure, the only thing that really kept it afloat was Microsoft’s check book.

PS4 is selling 3x as many consoles month after month even after the X and Nimtendo is going to outsell xbox in half the time on the market.

Artemidorus34d ago

Just because something sells alot better does not mean anything else is deemed a failure.

marioJP8734d ago

You sure as hell won't find Halo or Gears of war on any other platform. There are fans of both of these series. This is just an example I'm using. You sound not so smart.

Xbox 360 got dramatically boosted by its slim model & Kinect in its fifth year

Xbox One has no such thing in comparison in its fifth year

King_Noctis35d ago

Plus the RROD also have something to do with it.

Eldyraen35d ago

Sad but true. I knew several that bought one while waiting for a fix or after warranties for other issues (e74 or something like that).

mcstorm35d ago

Yeah what people are also forgetting is Kinect also came out this year to which was a massive hit and a big boost for the 360. We all know the one wont outsell the 360 but its making MS $ and thats what matters for all 3.

FallenAngel198435d ago

@ King

Even with RRoD, PS3 still sold at a faster rate than 360 since day one.

What’s Xbox One’s excuse for falling behind?

chiefJohn11735d ago (Edited 35d ago )

Any more irrelevant things on your mind? That's PS3 not Xbox. How PS3 do compared to ps2 and PS4?

darthv7235d ago

It never really fell behind. It's keeping pace on its own. And without help from RRoD... it just keeps on selling.

slow and steady.

FallenAngel198435d ago

@ chief

Bringing up PS3 in this is irrelevant? Let’s not forget that in addition to starting out selling at a faster pace than Xbox 360, the Xbox One also started selling at a faster pace than PS3. Yet after a few years Xbox One managed to fall behind both. It’s a valid comparison to make in regards to this.

Even if you want to disregard PS3 for any reason, this chart clearly shows that Xbox One kept its pace ahead of Xbox 360 for 40 months, or 3 years and 8 months. That’s just clear proof that even with RRoD artificially increasing 360 sales, the XO was very capable of staying ahead in the same timeframe. The fact that XO eventually fell behind in sales behind 360, unlike with the PS3 that always stayed ahead of 360 with sales aligned, points more to XO’s own wiltering commercial performance rather than the hardware failures of its predecessor.

@ darth

Xbox One is not keeping pace. There hasn’t even been a year where it’s sold over 10 million units.

Bringing up the “at least it’s selling” is a weak point to bring up. If we were to apply that description to anything, we could say Vita is selling “slow and steady.”

darthv7235d ago

How is it a weak argument if it's true?

Is the xbo NOT selling at a slow and steady pace?

FallenAngel198435d ago

Because for something that started with such relatively strong sales, is selling “slow and steady” really worth mentioning?

King_Noctis35d ago

There is no excuse. I just point out that the rrod caused the X360 numbers to go up by abit as well. What wrong?

FallenAngel198435d ago (Edited 35d ago )

Because for 3 years and 8 months when RRoD was at its most rampant with Xbox 360 the Xbox One kept ahead of its predecessor and was the fastest selling Xbox console.

Now we’re to believe that Xbox One is falling behind Xbox 360 because RRoD had something to do with it when it didn’t in its first 40 months? And this just so happened to coincidentally take place in the same year that the Xbox brand had one of its weakest exclusive lineups in history? That doesn’t sound like a plausible reason at all.

If RRoD were actually that big, or a bit as you put it, of a reason for XO to fall behind its predecessor then it would’ve never sold at a faster pace in the beginning at all, let alone for that long a period of time.

CarlDechance34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

@darthv72

"Is the xbo NOT selling at a slow and steady pace?"

Why are you saying that like it is a good thing? Slow and steady? Dude....that is just spin for consistently weak sales. It isn't a massive failure like others are saying, but it continues to underperform.

cyber_daemonx34d ago

@darth, you make slow n steady sound like a good thing lol.

It does... it has the X. Except the X didn’t increase net sales like the 360 slim did.

The Xbox 360 really seems to have sold really fast is the final few years. Considering that Xbox One was pretty much ahead for the first 3 years.

Probably because of RRoD's and people buying the slim version. It's hard to now exactly why but Kinect may have also had a part of it.

Eldyraen35d ago

Kinect as a new toy. Probably helped capture some Wii fans since it had a lot of motion games.

I’m a bit surprised by later 360 sales really but price drops with skins help some. Plus 360 was a pretty popular system as a main last gen over PS3 for many, especially in certain regions. One is sort of in the slump though (exclusive wise) that the 360 got in its last year or two. Which because of the longer generation might not be shown yet.

Movefasta199335d ago

the 360 had better games 5 years in

microgenius35d ago

360 is the best Xbox ever made period. its the only xbox I ever had and i don't think any future xbox console could tap its sales.
