There is as new PS4 Message Bug that is causing PS4 systems to get soft-locked. Find out how to avoid this bug.
So what you need to do is-- turn off your PS4 and erase that message through the phone app. And if required, go to safe mode on PS4 and rebuild the database. Then set messages privacy to 'friends' or 'No one' for a few days.
Sounds like that iPhone bug. SMH
God I can't stand people
Read this a few hours ago, although I haven't recieved any message like that. I did recently start to again receive the messages from the girl who is bored and wanted to play some PSN so I should call her and gave her number. I se t my messages to friends only once I read this article just to be on the safe side. Actually, she sent a friend request which was different from the normal message.
"Actually, she sent a friend request which was different from the normal message." would you say it was... abnor_mal? ... I'll see myself out, now...
Why yes, yes it was.
I turned my PSN messages to friends only a long long time ago because of those annoying messages.
I use to get porn pics and ads for the sites on my PS3 😂
Crashes on PS4 usually do reset the PS4. It's designed to do that. That's better than the alternative to bricking the system. Resetting the database is caused when the reset causes erroneous data to appear during a disc check on boot. Perfectly normal. It's basically just a checkdisc that we've seen on PC for a long time now, and it makes sure all the disc pointers are correct. It's not a bad thing, and can even fix slow disc access as bad pointers take more time to get fixed when done on the fly. Doing it like this, makes it so those erroneous pointers don't become an issue later. Granted, the bug shouldn't happen, but you can delete the message without having to go onto the phone app. The system doesn't automatically open up messages.
I remember this glitch on the ps3.
Good thing i always have my messages set to friends only. Gotta thank all the salty players from SMITE and Overwatch for that.
Same here. I call it the child blocker.
Wait, isn't this the kind of thing that paying a subscription fee is supposed to fight against? What happened to all that supposed security that comes out of paying for online a second time? I mean, the big three console makers do put some of it back into improving their system security, right? I sincerely hope that all three wise up someday and free online multiplayer from their subscriptions. None of them make you as safe as they proclaim, so why should we all have to pay extra for it? Nintendo is going to be hit by something similar eventually, mark my words on that, and it wouldn't be the first time for Microsoft if something similar happens to them soon. I think the appropriate phrase here is, "I didn't sign up for this!"
"...and it wouldn't be the first time for Microsoft if something similar happens to them soon." - go ahead and refresh my memory... as I don't recall this happening to Microsoft on Xbox One.
Microsoft is a brilliant software company. No way they would allow anything to roll out without extensive testing. Except last week when the Windows 10 update erased peoples photos & data...
Read up on the Windows NT kernel. Gotta give credit where credit is due. Heh. Yeah, that was quite a bad show on that recent Win-10 update. I wonder if Microsoft will end up getting slapped with a class-action lawsuit.
@yarbie1000 I was about to say before I read your last sentence that MS should be sued for how shoddy windows is, and those shi**y updates. I had to get a new laptop, because i'm sure it was one of their updates that trashed my last one.
Actually, this is just lousy OS coding. No app-level code should ever be able to bring down system-level code. Messaging is app-level code. Nothing that happens there should cause the PS4 to lose its marbles and shut down, or soft-lock itself. The issue has nothing to do with paid or free online, really. The upside is that this will force them to see where they screwed up their code, and hopefully tighten it up.
I think it's safe to assume that gamers are not paying these subscription fees for security at this point. We're paying because these companies can get away with charging us fees and us paying for them. But I definitely understand where you're coming from. With these type of fees we shouldn't see these simple type of bugs that should be caught by QA going out to the public.
People are dumb there is no way to keep anything that is connected online 100% safe yes Sony should get on top of this if in fact it's a real issue but you aren't paying a subscription for extra security you are paying for access to online gaming. Something that all three major consoles have in some form or fashion this could happen to any of them so maybe less hyperbole and more common sense.
I switched to friends only for the next few weeks. I will not take any chances.
Always something with sony
How about you grow up and stop trolling.
What? His point is valid. This type of bug shouldn't be happening with all those subscriptions PSN has.
If anyone would know about growing up and trolling comments.
@Darkspade Well, that's how it is when everything gets overblown to dramatic levels. It will seem like it's always something bad going on. Doesn't help that there's always people looking for those bad things to try to put Sony where they think their place should be.
Sorry guys, was only trying to send y'all my D-pic. Didn't know it would crash your ps4's.
It didn't fit in the memory.
Send it on Xbox. Live can handle it.
good thing i‘m not into multiplayer so there is no need at all to use the message function. ever.
So you have no friends?
I’m a adult l love playing games to game not chat. If I want to chat with someone I’ll use my phone think you very much. This having to chat on everything is reticules
Just because he doesn’t play games online doesn’t mean he doesn’t have any friends.
You could get a random message even if you don't play multiplayer so it's better set msgs to private.
Thanks for the warning!
Damn, I do get spam messages sometimes on PS4 so I think I'd be in danger.... And right before RDR 2 comes out, dear god!
i have no friends only.
I have not set messaging to 'no one' because of this stupid issue so not even friends or people that I think may be friend are able to send a message. Sony needs to fix this asap
