Is Assassin's Creed Odyssey the New Witcher 3?

Gadgets 360 says: "Be it Ubisoft's renewed focus on naval warfare that expands upon what was seen in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag or a well-designed, thought out set of missions both integral to the main story or otherwise, that can be contrasted and compared to the superlative Witcher 3, there's a lot of love in Assassin's Creed Odyssey."

Although not played it yet but defo picking it up Friday , if it’s amything close to The Witcher 3 I’m a very happy chap. Love origins and loved the sailing in black flag . So for me it will be a great game I reckon .

I'm a big fan of The Witcher 3 and while Origins wasn't as good it was better than I expected and honestly not far behind. If Odyssey is indeed better than Origins (as many reviewers are saying) it could get surprisingly close to The Witcher 3. In any case, I'm confidant it will be a game that I will really enjoy.

I feel exactly the same as you, also getting it this weekend

Odyssey was one of my games of show at E3 and it's a mid 80's Metacritic, but TW3 is a step above by all accounts. I doubt ACO is at that level, plus, it supposedly makes the 3rd act such a grind that people resort to MTs similar to Shadow of War. I'd like to play Odyssey at some point when it's on sale, it looks like a good Spartan game with Mass Effect touches, but the hyperbole is a tad bit high.

While I loved Origins and I am getting this bad boy Thursday I wouldn't call them the new Witcher 3! Now I haven't played Odyssey obviously but I have a hard time believing it will have the level of polish and thought going into the side quests. That said it doesn't have to be, it just needs to surpass Origins and if it does that it's all good!

Played a little yesterday and the voice actor for the dude is awful. I’m thinking about starting over as the chick.

I noticed that in some youtube videos. Definitely playing as Kassandra.

I watched a few videoes to get hyped before the release and I totally agree. I don't feel like his voice fits his face, and he sounds a bit funny. Probably going to play as Kassandra, although I'd like to play as the male. But voice acting is waaay more important than the gender of my character imo.

Have not played an AC game. Just wondering can you romance/have sex with other characters in the game like the Witcher and ME?

Smokehouse172d ago

I haven’t seen anything like that yet but I’m pretty sure I heard there is an option. I would recommend the female character if you play it though, the standard every minute voice acting is better. Shepard in ME had better female VA too but the male was alright. The male in this game is kind of a goofball with his voice acting. I don’t know if it gets better as he gets more serious as a character, I guess I’ll just play it out and see.

In the scope of the map maybe but in other areas definitely's dialog system and its consequences are very limited and the narrative wont be that engaging like the witchers.

I was actually wondering about this as well, with all the new RPG elements.
