A trademark filing in Europe filed in 2017, now "registered and published" on August 30th 2018, points to Nintendo making a miniature Nintendo 64 with a game library built-in, along the lines of the NES Classic Edition.
I dread the controller that will come packed with it
For real, that was one of the worse controllers. It was right up there with the Atari Jaguar.
really? I would say that this controller helped usher in modern controllers of today. While they didn't invent the analog stick, they certainly made it popular. It was perfectly fine to hold. I agree it looked weird, but performed way better than say the original dual shock.
@neon The controller was excellent for games that Nintendo made themselves but for games from other developers or ports from other consoles it was a nightmare. The whole button layout was strange.
That damn analog stick kept getting stiff.
@Neonridr. The one controller that made analogs popular and is the base of all modern crontrollers is the Dualshock. No doubts that the snes controller is the grandad of controllers, Playstation og controller is prety much snes controller 2.0, but the father of modern controllers is the DS whit 2 analog sticks, 4 shoulder buttons, internal rumble in the grips. Sony desing is the base of most of the modern controllers.
https://retrofighters.com/#... They need something like this. But some people wouldn't like new controllers, these things are nostalgia machines. I don't have any problem with the original since I grew up with them, but I know a lot of people won't feel that way. They do need better analog sticks tho.
Why on Earth did they use the same octagonal cut out in the case for analogue stick placement?? That was probably the worst thing about the original N64 controller.
N64 Classic ftw but no N64 controller, completely redesign that crap
Maybe gamecube or switch controller but, it is gonna be funny cuz you know its gonna ship with the original.
What's the point in a N64 mini without the controller? May as well just use emulators.
https://retrofighters.com/#... This. They should use this.
Honestly, a lot of N64 games have not aged well at all. And there's definitely not as many good and classic N64 games as there are NES/SNES games. Nintendo should just stop at the SNES.
I think more n64 games have aged well than ps1 games. Star fox, conker, banjo, mario 64, mario kart, paper mario, and majora's mask all feel pretty fresh to name a few. The original mario party hasn't aged too well, but 2 and 3 have. I agree that snes games have aged better overall, but idk about nes.
I personally loved the N64, as well as its controller. Great generation entirely, no matter the console.
If they make a Nintendo 64 classic they need to add the option to remove the atrocious AA horizontal blur filter the console had.
A rematch of the century!!!!
Does it come with an expansion pack or do we have to buy that to play Perfect Dark? Also the joystick better not be as crappy as the original.
im calling it.... console wars for retro consoles now. XD
Man I loved the N64 controller. So unique and revolutionary.
Im buyinh both day 1. Esp if there is a n64... if not for anything but collectable purposes
N64 classic without rare is pretty pointless.
I would consider buying a 64 mini or Ps2 classic when they come out (even though I still own both systems lol)
Yes the precious will be gotten. The precious will be modified and loaded with No Mercy and all Asmik Aki games. Also Worms Armageddon and Goldeneye.
I still thing the N64 controller is one of the best ever made!
Honestly, I think the n64 classic will win this battle. N64 classic games have not been re-released to other consoles. Where as Sony’s classics have seen re-releases. So for me, N64 classic is more of a must have.
Don’t make me laugh for games like Mario 64, Zelda 64, Starfox 64, F zero 64, this controller was a revolution. Everything was placed perfectly for those games. Sony followed with PS1 analog controllers. Without Nintendo ushering in this tech it wouldn’t have reached the standard it is today as fast.
N64 is one of my favorite consoles, but I’m worried for the classic as it might lose games due to Rare being owned by Microsoft. N64 classic won’t be conplete without Banjo 1-2, Donkey Kong 64 and Conker’s Bad Furday.
