Due to small differences in console and PC versions of the game, Armored Warfare sadly won't support cross-play.
Definitely not a major industry complaint. MS is the only one bringing this up to try and make it seem like they’ve been the only ones pushing for it. Actions speak louder than words. Everyone else has more cross-platform playing games than them. It’s just the facts.
Ps4 has twice the number of games that offer cross play with pc and mobile compared to Xbox one and switch
Weird could've swore that there have been others talking about this also as there have been enough articles about it
So guess devs like the one from Rocket League never talked about crossplay, funny how people suffer from amnesia when it's convenient
Not like the hottest story right now is a crossplay one on the front page of N4G lol.
So I'm just going to put this list out there of devs who have talked about crossplay Fortnite Overwatch Warframe Rocketleague Bethesda and then there's Nintendo so unlike what some claim it's not just 1 company that talks about it
you are also missing the Tekken devs then there’s Pinball FX ultra 3 Mantis Burn Racing Crazy Justice Gunscape Hover then there’s nintendo themselves https://www.forbes.com/site... But it’s just MS....
If Sony just does what's right and allow cross play like Nintendo and MS then this will stop being a major Debate.
Warframe dev just said it was, obviously due to the amount of articles and comments this is true, I'm not sure why you want to claim it isn't a hot topic.
"MS is the only one bringing this up to try and make it seem like they’ve been the only ones pushing for it." Too hysterical. It's seriously baffling to the point of science fiction come to actual life how some folks constantly blame MS even when there has been tons of stories from different devs not associated with MS asking for cross console play. "Everyone else has more cross-platform playing games than them. But Xbox has more cross console games than them, those are also just facts.
“...there has been tons of stories from different devs not associated with MS asking for cross console play.” What a weak argument. “Tons of stories” doesn’t constitute anything. A “major industry debate” would mean that you’d see actual impact in the industry, like people leaving a company by the millions. Something like “always-online” gaming or GAAS are major industry debates. “But Xbox has more cross console games than them, those are also just facts.” Ok? Still less cross-platform games overall. Doesn’t change that.
*“major industry debate” would mean that you’d see actual impact in the industry, "like people leaving a company by the millions.* By whose definition? Where is this stated? How would a debate even translate into people leaving a company by the millions and what example has there been of this? *Something like “always-online” gaming or GAAS are major industry debates. * Again why is this the case and not cross platform play? Especially when there has been many debates and discussions across the board from games, devs and journalists about this. It's funny how GaaS and always online seems to be "major debates" but major third party developers requesting cross platform play from Sony is no big deal, not an industry problem, MS trying to make sony look bad, gamers don't care or any other excuse one can think of to try and get this swept under the rug. *Doesn’t change that.* No it doesn't, but I see a lot of people like to drop the "facts" bomb, when in reality it's more like "half-facts". Like I said before, it's funny to see people defend this but then call out nd be so angry at other companies for practices that seem selfish or in it for the money.
Didn’t realize you not getting to play with sony players on your Xbox affected you that much. Sounds like a personal problem if cross play is that much of an “industry debate” for you. It’s a want, not a need. GAAS and “Always Online” are always going to be important and hot topics because they drastically and negatively affect our ability to play AT ALL. They NEED to be discussed and debated on. Cross platform play is just icing on top that only became important to most when MS latched on to it before E3. Same thing happened with backwards compatibility and trying to make Sony look like they don’t deliver on games when it was the complete opposite. And there’s no such thing as half-facts. You’re cherry picking from facts with the whole “console crossplay” take. It would be like stupidly saying “well Xbox had more games this month” after someone says “Sony had the most exclusives all year”. No one has time for such weak arguments and points.
"Sounds like a personal problem if cross play is that much of an “industry debate” for you. It’s a want, not a need." Why do you keep ignoring that third party developers are also requesting this. I am positive I brought this up in my reply to you before and yet here you are with another weak remark saying I personally want this. It's amazing how you and others side step, and parry this whenever it's brought up, because it 100% kills your "Only MS" rant. "GAAS and “Always Online” are always going to be important and hot topics because they drastically and negatively affect our ability to play AT ALL." Exactly how Spaceranger? We have already had games out that have both these models and there has been no drastic or negativity when playing those games. It would probably help if you gave some examples of these drastic negatives when trying to comically over exaggerate. SFV, Overwatch, Destiny, Fortnite are just a few games as a service with some always online type features that have been successful and extremely popular and enjoyed by millions. Are their negatives with them that have been discussed, yes, have they gone away or stopped anyone from playing those games and enjoying them, no. But to say this is drastic, negatively affect our ability to play AT ALL or the hilarious statement of GaaS and Always Online driving millions of people out of a company is bat shit insane. And you still never said why. "You’re cherry picking from facts with the whole “console crossplay” take." LMAO! This is coming from someone who couldn't answer or give not ONE example like I asked in my first reply. "It would be like stupidly saying “well Xbox had more games this month” after someone says “Sony had the most exclusives all year”." LMAO! Low Key PR Mode OFF [ON] "No one has time for such weak arguments and points." Oh man... https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...
Absolutely NOT a major industry Debate. It's a complete Red Herring. At the very least it's a storm in a Fortnite tea cup. Microsoft lock free to play game - Fortnite behind a Pay wall, and that's okay - why exactly is that ok? But Sony allows people to play Fortnite for free as it is free to play. But that's not ok, lets talk about cross-platform play instead - why exactly? So that we can all pay Microsoft for the priviledge of playing a free to play game? GTFO with that. The only people shouting loudly about cross platform play on PS4 are predominantly people who DON'T own a PS4. The reason M$ is virtue signalling about cross platform play is because as a company they have made the decision to move away from platform exclusivity, and to push a "play anywhere narrative." They want their games on all platforms, but will we really see Microsoft published games on Playstation or Nintendo platforms in future? Hell No! Especially when the lack of exclusivity has hurt them massively this gen, and set them trailing behind Sony, not just in sales - but also in mind-share. When was the last time an xbox exclusive was even nominated for GOTY? Conversation is now turning to which game is GOTY - God of War, or Spiderman? Both Sony exclusives, both single player games. Cross Platform play is a good idea in principle, but lets not pretend that it matters in any real significant way. Except to score virtue signalling points.
Why do you sound so irritated if people don't care as you propose, unless you know deep down the truth that people actually do care.
Your logic fails on so many levels. Firstly, where did I 'propose' that "people don't care"? I talked about the people who do care about the issue being those who predominantly are on the other platforms. I also point out that they are being hypocritical because Sony lets you play Fortnite for free, whereas you have to pay on the xbox to play Fortnite. In that regard Sony are right when they say that the Playstation platform is the best place to play Fortnite, because you can play it for free without it being behind a pay wall. Moreover, I do obviously care about the issue since I took the time to think about it and put forward my thoughts and opinions. It's a red herring because Playstation has many more cross play titles than the xbox platform. It's all just fake rage and hypocrisy for the sake of controversy.
@Archangel Mike the only point I made is that you proposed people don't care (which is untrue) here is where I was pointing that out: "Absolutely NOT a major industry Debate." - proposing people don't care The rest is just your own exposition after my single sentence post to you. but to expand on what you are saying, this issue spreads really across all multiplayer titles where devs wish to implement crossplay. I would say let the developers choose what they think is best for their games and keep the platform holders out of it as much as possible. For the players.
Why do all these arguments always forget that it's not only MS that wants cross console play? It's amazing how much of a point you and others make but never paint the whole picture, just enough to fit your extremely weak narrative to take the bad press off Sony and try desperately hard to shine it back on MS. Let's not mention the many third party developers that want cross platform play with their third party titles. Let's also make mention of MS wanting ALL their games on other platforms even though the ONLY game they have offered this with is Minecraft, which is the only game that appears on every platform. You guys spend more time making up arguements and off topic issues that all seem to have the same premise of MS having some diabolical plot to bring down Sony all the while going into marketing mode and talking about sales of PS4. It's impressive and sad all at the same time.
**as the games carry small differences which make this kind of cross-play not an option.** Lol. This article is trying to use a game that can't do cross play with consoles because the two versions are different as a way to push the cross platform play narrative that's not a major debate. It's only by those who miss playing with their friends on Xbox because they went to the dark side (Sony). Or because their online game is dying from lack of players and need Sony's online player base to keep their game alive. And they are upset that most Sony fans don't care because we're playing single player games and by Sony's PSN numbers, most aren't paying for online or online to care. But there were many games from the past to the present that were slightly different or way different across console and pc versions. The possibility of any cross play would have been impossible on those games too. Why is this an article? Oh. Gaming bolt.
are you a kid? DO you wana face FPS game against PC, like controllersa are completly different. It won't be fair thats why it;s not that important. Even for gamers dont care
Then do what Fortnite does and request an option to turn crossplay off within the game. Or is that too difficult?
I wonder if any serious gaming sites ever get second hand embarrassment from reading some of these articles from some of these sites that get approved everyday.
I wonder myself. But these days, quality, facts and real news have been thrown out the window in favor of profits.
I am a BIG Xbox fan and wish they would stfu about this. Stop pretending it's some chink in Sony's armor, you've been outsold 3 to 1, get over it and be better.
Usually xbox only responds to a new article or because Sony gets asked about it and makes a comment that doesn't make any sense. The narrative keeps getting pushed because people keep asking. It's no accident why these articles become some of the hottest topics on forums like N4G.
Nobody cares about this.
LOL. Sony has been doing cross play longer than either MS or Nintendo how is that for irony not only that when MS was offered to join they declined and now all of a sudden it's Sony holding the industry back. MS is clearly using cross play as a way to give bad publicity to Sony and trying to pressure them into an unfavorable position. MS doesn't do things out of the kindness of their hart or because they care about gamers they are doing it because it directly benefits them. Otherwise MS would have accepted Sony's offer last generation. Sony doesn't need MS or Nintendo but they sure seem to need Sony's growing install base.
