Editorial: Can Cyberpunk 2077 be Bigger than The Witcher?

Jacob St-Amour from Link-Cable Writes: "We’ve all seen the amazing 48-minute footage of CD Projekt Red’s upcoming first-person RPG title, Cyberpunk 2077 and I think it is a fair assumption to say that this will most likely be one of the biggest games in many years. While it certain that this ambitious project will most likely hit consoles in a few years or even on next-generation tech, Cyberpunk 2077 still remains the biggest topic of discussion in the gaming community. So much so that people are convinced that the title will surpass the company’s previous work on The Witcher franchise which would be no small feat to accomplish. Those are big shoes to fill but if anyone is up to the task I'd say it's CDPR! They have a knack for covering all the bases , even the smallest details and I think 2077 will be something special!

Sure it's a different property, different setting different perspective (I'm sure they knew there'd be blowback) but they are master developers whose work speaks for itself! It comes down to narrative, characters and how all the mechanics come together to form a game that'll resonate and I believe they are up to the task!

I didn't play The Witcher, mainly because the fantasy genre isn't my cup of tea. Cyberpunk 2077 is day one for me because the setting and gameplay are more to my personal tastes. I love single player games primarily, but games like The Witcher and Red Dead Redemption just don't do anything for me, despite them being very highly rated quality titles. To each their own.

Yes and especially with better hardware coming the next few years it'll mean an even bigger world.
