Don't Let Dragon Quest XI Slip Through the Cracks

USGamer: “New entries in long-lived JRPG series—think Final Fantasy, Persona, and Dragon Quest—are the Halley's Comet of video games. They enter our line of vision, cause a big ruckus for a while, then fly away from us until the cycle repeats years later.

Now it's Dragon Quest's turn to enter our atmosphere again. Finally. The last mainline entry English-speakers received in the series was 2009's Dragon Quest IX for the Nintendo DS. Dragon Quest X, an MMO, missed us. In fact, it's been 14 years since the last mainline console Dragon Quest game, Dragon Quest VIII for the PlayStation 2, visited us.

This is my long-winded way of reminding you Dragon Quest games are rarities on our shores, so it'd be a darn shame if you let Dragon Quest XI for the PlayStation 4 and Steam pass you by.”

I am waiting for the Switch release. There are so many good games out right now, having this portably would benefit me greatly.

King_Noctis14d ago

I was waiting for the Switch version too, but I pulled the trigger and got it on PC yesterday.

And let me tell you, I’m glad that I didn’t wait. This is one of the best RPGs in recent years.

There will be exclusive content in the Switch version.

King_Noctis14d ago

@zeldafan

Really? Well then I might double dib for the Switch version.

HAHA King_Notis I did the same got it for PS4 pro. Since I have bought 3 jrpg's for SWITCH in the last month and a half (cough octopath, asdivine hearts...regalia). The graphics are beutiful. I'm 31 hours into it. Glad I did not wait. It is one of the best rpgs in years. Trails of cold steel 1 and 2 are better so far (especially on the music side) I know the music sounds like I blasphemed. Except I didn't.

Zeldafan6413d ago

Only problem is they never said how extensive the new content will be. I hope it's more than just Nintendo themed costumes.

I wonder what the exclusive content will be in the Switch version.

this really cracked me up and definitely made my day :D

King_Noctis14d ago

Because you don’t have a Switch?

Shiken12d ago

In what world do I not have a Switch? My friend code is in my profile lmao

Epic_Troy14d ago

Game should be on xbox one also smh

PiNkFaIrYbOi14d ago

What for? It would barely sell, most Xbox gamers don't care for JRPGs and stuff.

Shadowsteal14d ago (Edited 14d ago )

If you want RPGs you get a PS4; it's simple.

indysurfn13d ago (Edited 13d ago )

I agree. I will add get a SWITCH also because a lot of big guns are getting remakes for SWITCH from 3ds and DS. OCTOPATH was exclusive. SWITCH already have over 100 RPGs out for it. in only 1 year and a half. With the flood gates about to open.

Remember JRPG's did not got away they went to handhelds......Mostly Nintendo handhelds, now they will have to come to SWITCH since vita was killed off (not that it had as many). And SWITCH will play to the big screen and little portable screen.

So get both!

One of my anticipated games, but I simply don’t have the time anymore. I’m kinda bummed out by it too.

Gemmol14d ago

With switch you would make time easier, this why I'm waiting for switch version

MAULxx14d ago (Edited 14d ago )

No way would I invest game time on a system that doesn't allow me to back up my game saves. But, that's just me.

indysurfn13d ago

MAULxx Nintendo just announced cloud backup for SWITCH.

I hate how sometimes DQ XI makes you have these long periods of time you can't get to a save spot (heck all jrpg's for that matter). Buth with SWITCH you can pause or power down without losing your game progress! heck the amount of time played timer stops too! It is perfect. Even a movie will pick up where it left off. No worry about losing since last save or starting over! I can stop playing just by pressing a button at lunch.

SegaGamer14d ago

Already have it on Steam, it's brilliant.
