IGN: Exploring the Freescape

When you ask people about the companies that pushed adventure gaming forward, you'll hear plenty of responses about the humor of LucasArts, the graphical innovation of Sierra, and the unmatched writing of Infocom. When you talk about the games that paved the way into 3D, you'll hear plenty of talk of id Software's shooters or Mario 64. But back in '80s, when the third dimension was real frontier country and the graphic adventure genre was still budding, there was a group of pioneers laying the groundwork for the generations ahead. They released it as VR Toolkit, and you could make games with it!
