OTG: Dead Space Review 5/5

Only the Games write: "The derelict, skeletal structure of an immense craft hums with eerie silence. With their own blood, crew members have written their goodbyes on the metallic walls, crying solitarily in the dark depths of space. As a lonely descent into the madness of the aftermath, Dead Space runs the gamut of sci-fi horror inspiration. But through immaculate vision, developer EA Redwood Shores twists a glut of conventions in its favour, spawning something entirely novel."

An amazing game that kinda came out of nowhere.

PrimordialSoupBase3704d ago

Yeah, you can actually walk and shoot. This game is full of win.

cheese3703d ago

Yeah, too many survival horror games gimp controls because they think it will create tension. It's just annoying.

Horny Melon3703d ago

ridiculous number of perfects being bandied about? Deadspace was good, but it was by no means perfect.

cheese3703d ago

From the site: 5/5 "There is no such thing as perfection, but these are works that will be revered for years to come."

I'm sorry that decimal points have clouded your ability to actually read a review.

JeanPool3704d ago

JeanPool thinks that RE5 could pick up a few pointers from this one.

cheese3703d ago

yea, it definitely could.

PrimordialSoupBase3703d ago

Only the controls, nothing else.

Kriller3703d ago

To continue this here, the loneliness of Dead Space would be ruined by co-op. Seems like you haven't even played it.

PrimordialSoupBase3703d ago

That doesn't make any sense, you can still be with a friend and feel the loneliness. And yes, I have played it.

Road Dog3703d ago

Its ok that you are too scared to play Dead Space alone. RE5 is waiting for you with open arms.

Kriller3703d ago

This is GOTY material.

Kriller3703d ago

The scores say differently...

PirateThom3703d ago

It's currently sitting on 89 on metacritic for PS3 and 360.

Kriller3703d ago

Face it, It's going to be better than RE5.

PrimordialSoupBase3703d ago

No co-op here, so no it won't be.

Kriller3703d ago

LOL. The last thing Dead Space needs is co-op. RE5 just won't be scary when you're playing with a friend.

PrimordialSoupBase3703d ago

Any game would be better with co-op. I don't see how Dead Space is any different.

PirateThom3703d ago

Co-op isn't necessary in all games. Metal Gear Solid 4 certainly didn't need co-op and neither does Dead Space.

Resident Evil 5 is a major, major disappointment in my view because it's no longer survival horror, but TPS.

PirateThom3703d ago

Third person shooter, like Gears of War.

I've yet to find anything I dislike about this game.

FunAndGun3703d ago

This game is phenomenal. Everything is so damn polished and solid. graphics, multiple death animations for each enemy, lighting, sound...its all top notch.

I love when the big tall guys who break apart into smaller spider like monsters kill you with a decapication. The head of the necro will crawl into the hole where your head was and take over your body; adjusting his head in place and stumbling off...its awesome!

the one and only complaint, and im being picky, is the loading time from when you die. other than that the game owns.

Man_of_the_year3703d ago

Totally agree with you - i finished it on the weekend and i was totally in awe. Once i came in to work the following monday i told EVERYONE how amazing the game was - so much that i got 2 other guys to start playing it and they even love it...I am starting it again but on HARD difficulty with the unlocked extras you get from finishing the game.

10/10 Exactly what this Generation Needed.
