An analyst spells doom and gloom for Blu-ray player sales this holiday. But they forgot one important x-factor.
O RLY? I can't wait for the Dark Knight to come in Blu-Ray
thats the day when these MS paid suckers will finally stop
Did you read the story? The only reason his number dropped is because he's no longer counting the Trojan Horse... I mean, PlayStation 3 as a Blu-ray player.
"The estimates do not include Playstation 3 sales. " There's your drop then.
Analysts are full of sh!t why do you think they are called ANALysts.
Maybe they should drop the Blu ray movie prices by 25% while they're at it. :)
And thus, the tears flow from the Xturds eyes
I really don't think that an analyst can talk about Blu-ray sales without mentioning or adding in PS3 sales as well because I think the PS3 is just as important. As HDTV prices continue to come down and Blu-ray player prices come down more, Blu-ray will really do well... when "most" Blu-ray players hit the $199-$250 mark, that's when I think Blu-ray players will REALLY start to take off in sales. The majority of the people that have stand alone Blu-ray players now probably are people with a middle-high income that own HDTV's or the Tech guru's that are always on top of the newest tech, because not many people are willing to spend $400+ dollars for a top-of-the-line Blu-ray player that JUST plays movies, but the PS3 is by far the best value for the price because It's a media hub, gaming console, and Blu-ray player all in one starting at $399... there are some Blu-ray players that are below $300 bucks, and I do think a lot of people will be going after those as well. When it comes to Blu-ray, there's no worries here because The Dark Knight will do all the talking this holiday for Blu-ray Worldwide.
Oh noes! I wonder how much HD DVD will...doh!
on Blu-Ray. sales will be excellent.
on Blu-Ray. sales will also be excellent.
yeah, Dark Knight and Wall-E too. Wall-E will probably have the best picture quality of any blu-ray out. the top three as determined by AVS are all pixar movies :-p thats not to say that DK won't look ridiculous though.
The Incredible Hulk will be coming out too.
Although i feel HD-DVD was the superior format, i go with whats alive - Blu-Ray. As such, i've brought a stand alone Blu-Ray player and will Buy Ironman and The Dark Knight this christmas. Its just a shame the PS3rd is priced so highly, otherwise, it might have done better this christmas...
instead of watching movies.... why not go back to school and done get some better grammar skills?
I need to get myself a blu-ray player. Im running out of HD space with all the blu-ray rips I download from torrents.
you cant download blu-ray, its a Hi Deff disc read with a blue laser, NOT a file.....
will also be downloading Fable2 and GeoW2 for the 360. No wonder it is selling so well.
PS3 + Dark Knight bundle from Sony. So far its a rumor. Imagin if they really do it ... =)
dollar fuking movie! you can watch it once or twice. thats it and then its boring. sony should be more concernd about tiher games.
Boring to you, some people, like me, watch movies multiple times and want the best quality possible. Sony has enough games out and coming.
But blu-ray movie salles are really good though. I myself just borught 5 blu-ray movies this month alone. My collection is really close to a 100 blu-ray movies.
The whole of a analyst is taking into account everything that will effect whatever your trying to predict so you can make the best prediction possible.
Uhm, here's my prediction...take almost ANY consumer item from last year's holiday shopping season and you will see a drop this year. It's called a global fcking recession.
Actually in times of need ppl still need food so if your in the cheap food industry you should see an increase in sales. Also cheap beer people always find money for cheap beer. Also the illegal drug market will well lets just say the cheaper more dangerous products are going to be effected in a way.
I just saw a sharp player floating around 200 dollars and some no name brand ones also. At this rate it seems to be doing better than how dvd did in the first few years... Given the economic situation blu-ray is just DOING fine.
Dark knight. yeah i know its not a bluray player. but ppl who have HDTVs can tell a real diffrence between norm SD and HD (well for me normal TV programs looks really blury now.) and they might get it now, cause TDK is comming out. and they will have to get one eventually. so get it now?
