Mafia 3 once had an opening so controversial all trace of it had to be erased

"It has been burned from our servers. It literally does not exist."

Mafia 3 opens with a documentary-style montage and potted history of the game's main character, Lincoln Clay, whose body and life you jump into shortly after he returns from the war in Vietnam. But the game didn't always open this way.

I plated this for about 5 hours I enjoyed it but got sidetracked with kingdom hearts 1.5

Iltapalanyymi2111d ago

shame the game sucked. still played it through hough. i wish the team that made M2 did it

deckardreplicant2111d ago

Mafia 2 was awesome! That's an open world game that nailed the atmosphere and I still get the goosebumps whenever I hear the soundtrack.

SarcasticDuck2111d ago

Mafia 2 wasn't open-world though, it was a linear game with a sandbox map

Minute Man 7212111d ago

The sales rep @ Gamestop talked me outta buying M2

Great Game beat it on PC and XBox and did all DLC as well.

ReelBigMike2111d ago

Seems like the explanation was logical. It was cut more b/c it didn't fit with the rest of the story than b/c of it's content. I loved Mafia III. It was absolutely repetitive, I can't argue that, but despite that I still had a ton of fun playing through it and the story was outstanding.

OB1Biker2111d ago (Edited 2111d ago )

I loved the style. Such a pleasure to chill out in that game after a days work.

Hardiman2111d ago

It did get repetitive but damnit I still enjoyed it! I really liked the world, music and characters! It looked really good too!

"An opening so controversial all trace of it had to be erased"

That must have been missions with some actually variety to them because I sure know when I played Mafia 3 it was the same BS missions over and over again.

Mafia 1 & 2 > Mafia 3

Turned based Phantasy Star and Shinning Force remain at the top of my list of Sega IPs that need to return. At the very least I'd take a Shining Force collection that has 1,2,3, CD and the Game Gear entries.

FinalBoss2d ago

I was hesitant to put these two on. I've personally played more PSO than the RPG version. And shame on me, I don't remember much about Shining Force to talk about it properly.

That said, so many Sega licences deserve their place in this list.

jznrpg6h ago

A new Phantasy Star in the numbered series would be amazing. Shining Force too. But I’d settle on some collections as that’s probably the best we will get

anast2d ago

I don't trust Sega to do a proper comeback. The games will be just remastered and/or monetized to death.

gold_drake1d 14h ago

shining force.

but indont see that happening unfortunately.
