Mafia 3 once had an opening so controversial all trace of it had to be erased

Mafia 3 opens with a documentary-style montage and potted history of the game's main character, Lincoln Clay, whose body and life you jump into shortly after he returns from the war in Vietnam. But the game didn't always open this way.

Mafia 2 was awesome! That's an open world game that nailed the atmosphere and I still get the goosebumps whenever I hear the soundtrack.

Great Game beat it on PC and XBox and did all DLC as well.

Seems like the explanation was logical. It was cut more b/c it didn't fit with the rest of the story than b/c of it's content. I loved Mafia III. It was absolutely repetitive, I can't argue that, but despite that I still had a ton of fun playing through it and the story was outstanding.

That must have been missions with some actually variety to them because I sure know when I played Mafia 3 it was the same BS missions over and over again.

While not a technical masterpiece like GTA this game had WAY more substance to it with a great story. I couldn't get enough of this game, I really hope they do mafia 4.

Clearly many feel the same hence the sales numbers. The satire nature of every GTA campaign just made it impossible to take seriously or care about finishing it, just my opinion of course

Its sad that they felt they had to scrub something from all existence lest it be found later and used against them out of context.

I dont blame them, I just find it sad that people have to CYA because 30 years from now someone might use something you did against you with the context removed.

I like Mafia 2 and 3 the things I did not like about Mafia 3 was missions got repetitive after a while and some missions were not loading it has a great story. I loved getting drunk and feeding bodies to the crocs I can't wait for Mafia 4.
