Tokipost.com The LittleBig Debate: Should Sony Have Delayed?

By now everyone has heard that LittleBigPlanet has been delayed due to a song included in the game that contained passages from the Quran and would possibly be offensive. While many in the gaming world were upset with the decisions to delay the game, the reason for being upset has varied immensely. Some gamers find it ridiculous to delay a game for something that "may" be offensive while others felt that the right thing to do was to recall the game and make sure it's not met with negative press. The question is then, what was the best move to make? (Culture, Industry, LittleBigPlanet, PS3)

Yes they should have
The delay has brought much free publicity to LittleBigPlanet guaranteeing more sales and consumer awareness towards the game that all ultimately add up to another jolly good christmas season for sony

They did the right thing. This would have created an even bigger controversy if this guy went to a religious group and complained about it.

Personally, I wish they didnt delay.... but the delay is causing much more hype. Cnn, Yahoo, BBC all site I have seen LBP on front page today. You cant pay for publicity like this. Its better than every can of mountain dew with a sackboy.

how can this even be debated?

Sony did the right thing.. if an entire chuck of the worlds population find this offensive, then it has to be dealt with.

besides, the game is getting free marketing. (likewise so is sony).. its a win-win situation.

One person complained about the song, not an "entire chuck of the worlds population".

1. Free advertisment from CNN and BBC
2. Court case if they didnt acquire the license

Sony took the easy way out, the content should never have been changed.
