Kindof sucks that PS4 is down YoY, but I guess it’s to be expected. Looks like it’s still on track to beat PS2’s record of how fast it got to 100 million, though. Spider Man, BO4, and RDR2 should definitely help put out some serious hardware numbers this holiday.

Rude-ro2119d ago

It’s a numbers game pr spin approach.
Ps4 has not struggled all gen. They also had a really good year last year where Microsoft had a really bad year last year as any interested consumer waited on the x.
One is easier to show growth when they just released the x vs Sony with 80 million consoles already sold and the pro already over a year old.
Year over year growth with three of the worst years on record for a Microsoft console is not hard to spin.

Oh I know. I was just thinking 2018 was going to be PS4’s peak year, what with the heavy hitting titles like GoW, Spider Man, and RDR2. It’s still doing amazing numbers, and is on track to reach 130 million LT, if PS5 doesn’t launch until late 2021. Will be very interesting to see.

It’s pretty cool that PS4 is the only console that’s down YoY, but is still beating out the competition by a pretty huge margin.

Ashlen2119d ago

Sony is down 10% Microsoft is up 15% yet PS4 has still sold more than 3x the number of consoles so far this year.

DialgaMarine2119d ago (Edited 2119d ago )

Yup. PlayStation Domination across all the nations. Power = meh if it doesn’t put to use.

UCForce2119d ago (Edited 2119d ago )

I’m sure those games will boost PS4 units massively.

@DigitalMarine I know. It’s going to be good year for PS4 owners.

DialgaMarine2119d ago

Especially if they get bundles. Can you imagine a LE PS4 Pro that is Red and Blue, with black webbing over it, and a black/ white spider in the center? That’d sell millions alone if it were even possible to make that many lol

OB1Biker2119d ago (Edited 2119d ago )

This year can still be PS4 peak year.
If you check out 2016 vs 2017 was an amazing first half but the gap slowed down in second half. 2016 vs 2018 shows 30% up

DialgaMarine2119d ago

We’ll definitely see. That’d be pretty incredible, not often a console peaks in its 5th.

Microsoft is so far away that is scary. They need a new strategy. Its Just not working what they are doing now.

Bathyj2119d ago

Cos they're taking up real estate that a better competitor could be using. Let face it, with all their money and all their tech savvy and resources they really are doing a shit job. It's like Usain Bolt not getting a medal in the special Olympics.

“Cos they're taking up real estate that a better competitor could be usin”

What real estate? Dude be real. There is no limit as to how many consoles can be on the market. MS doesn’t have to die so that other consoles can exist.

The delusional on this site is so real.

The only thing they could do would be let devs (talented devs) have more creative control and release awesome games and SP games at that. Basically the opposite of what they're approach is now!

King_Lothric2119d ago

If this official information from Sony of just guessing estimates.

ClanPsi12119d ago

I don't think they quite understand what the words "market share" mean. It doesn't have to do with yearly sales, it's calculated with respect to TOTAL sales. Who runs VGChartz? Have they never been to school?

johndoe112112119d ago

It's vgchartz so I'm gonna take a wild guess and say.....no....no they have not.

Sony still has sold the most consoles out of all current gen consoles which means the PS4 is the #1 leading console worldwide.
