Nintendo Switch Receives Price Drop In Canada

The Nintendo Switch is receiving a permanent price drop in Canada today. Nintendo of Canada announced that the MSRP for the Nintendo Switch is dropping to $379.99. The price change has taken effect at Walmart, Best Buy, EB Games, London Drugs, Toys R Us, Shoppers Drug Mart, The Source and Amazon.ca, according to Nintendo.

Ugh, this basically means no significant price drop in the near future. If we’re VERY lucky, it’ll come down to $350 by holidays, but not if this is any indication. Why not just keep selling at full price and make a bigger splash come October?

I would say yes because the Nvidia graphics card has a critical security flaw. In this case, it's Nvidia's fault. There's already custom firmware for Switch, and that's only the beginning.

I'd bet that there won't be much more, if any, changes other than to correct that flaw.

They probably only did this because the base pricing for PS4 etc. is 379.99 in Canada vs 300 in the states. They're probably trying to look more appealing by matching the price

Thing needs a real price drop in Canada. It sells for almost the same price as a ps4 pro and is more expensive than the iPad (2018)...as a family man myself, I would put that money towards an iPad instead of a switch (especially since games are 100$ each)

You need a reality check. Sure, it's more expensive than in the U.S, but in many countries, especially third world countries, the price is significantly higher - and the average income is far lower, to boot. In my country, it launched at around $500, if not a bit higher.

You guys realize they are just offsetting the difference in $ compared to the U.S. for Canada right?

Games get expensive in Canada, so to entice them to buy more, they lower the price on this, but it's still more.

Because $ increases/lowers sometimes more than others in years, it can really effect game sales and console sales in Canada for a lot of companies.

So it's basically still full price even with the price drop.
