Halo (working title) will take place in the universe that first came to be in 2001, dramatizing an epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant.
dun dun dun dunnnnnnnn dun dun dun dunnnnnn
Ya'll can hear can't you? lol
Hopefully it isn't terrible. The Halo universe has tons of incredible lore, but video game adaptations have a tendency to be really bad...
@Biggerboss I agree, I have 0 expectations for this show. I'll give it 3 episodes to hook me and if not then I'll move on. That's pretty much my rule with most shows these days.
Showtime does some pretty great stuff, I couldn’t think of a better place for it, hope it’s great
about time .. it's only been talked about for a decade or so :)
I'll believe it when it airs. There have been so many promises and none made tracks and that was during Halo's prime. Halo is in a very rough low point right now.
Only Bungie can restore Halo its true glory
@TheColbertinator I hope Bungie stay far far away from Halo, they are not the studio that they once were, They would turn it into another destiny
@ultra That would still be better than what 343 has turned it into...
@TheColbertinator That Bungie doesn't exist anymore. There are more original Bungie employees working for 343 than at Bungie today. And lest we not forget the current Bungie created that awful mess Destiny. So, no we don't want their hands on Halo anymore.
@gumby Do you have a source for any of that nonsense? Please tell me how many "original bungie members" are at 343 right now.
@ultra Destiny 1 was ok,2 was a disaster but I blame Activision for that mostly. Bungie still has a good team with constant community support. Also 343 butchered Halo. No couch coop, the story has been trash since 4 and they make terrible MP maps.
Yeah buddy!!! I was stoked when I heard Showtime picked this up. Off topic, but if anyone's a Riddick fan, Merc City is a series being made too. https://screenrant.com/ridd... Also, a John Wick spin-off: http://collider.com/john-wi... Sorry, but I'm a big fan of both of these movies!
i dont see that john wick spinoff making it
I don't know, the idea of a prequel that follows the assassin's guild sounds promising if it's done right.
That was announce 3 years ago (Merc City)
From what I've read, I'm assuming that David Twohy is writing the scripts for Riddick 4 and Merc City at the same time and plans to release the series after the fourth film (but before Riddick 5). The whole thing has gone strangely silent though... I'd like to see another Riddick game, personally, Butcher Bay and Dark Athena were both pretty good.
Very interesting indeed.
Showtime do good work, so I'm optimistic about this.
Why don't they start with a great game first? 343 is barely competent enough to make a video game, and the worst part of their games is the story and we now get a show from that... I guess milk that cow before it's all dried up.
errr... 🤦🏽♂️ I no words for this kind fanboy stupidity.
Soo... In your world Halo 4 & 5 where the best in the series? I might be more of a Sony enthusiasts, but I was always a fan of Halo and 343 isn't doing the name justice. Maybe you're soo filled up with koolaid that you don't care where it goes, as long as there's a Halo badge on the box?
Oh please! fan of Halo my ass🤣. Halo 4 had an awesome campaign, true Halo fans know this. Its was the multiplayer that lacked as it changed that classic Halo arena feeling too much, which alienated long time fans and veteran pro players like myself. Then comes Halo 5, and 343i totally knocked the multiplayer out the park! literally the best in the series but fell short with an unsatisfactory campaign. Let's hope Infinite gets them both right. However, none of that has anything to do with this Halo TV series as 343i isn't suddenly becoming a film studio nor are any of their devs taking up screenplay writing or directing, hence SHOWTIME picking up the license to create the show along with actual well known film an tv script writers, directors etc. So please get outa here with your lack of knowledge/ignorant fanboy agenda bs.
@sirjojo Halo 4 had an "acceptable" campaign, not an incredible one. Coming off of Halo 2 and 3, it was straight up bad. Halo 5 multiplayer was really fun, I won't disagree with you there, but the Halo 5 campaign was straight up garbage.
@Paccino Halo 4 and 5 don't have to be the best Halo games in order to be good games. Halo 1-3 set a standard, not easy to live up to when the series isn't your baby. I personally have a lot of gripes with both games, but I can't sit here and say they're bad by any stretch of the word. Halo 5's multiplayer is still pretty awesome and Halo 4's campaign was well done for what they were trying to accomplish. Halo Infinite, based on the art style, is making a lot of fans happy. We don't know a lot, but they have our attention. 343 has the talent, let's just see if this can be their hallmark experience where it resonates with fans new and old. Xbox doesn't exist without Halo. Microsoft isn't going to squander the game that helped a console make a splash in the market forever, which is probably why Infinite is likely to have a 5 year dev cycle, the longest gap between mainline games.
Halo is a huge franchise...it's been expanding itself through many mediums way before 343 took over. 343 I have done more than what bungie have over the last few years and if your a Halo fan you should love the extra stuff they put in creating and expanding that universe. 343i have made a Halo with a great story and a halo with great multiplayer. All they need to do is find the right balance with the next game. If 343i were incompetent they would have released the next Halo by now as it's already been 3 years since the last game. From the Halo infinite trailer I can see that they have decided to take a step back and reimagine Halo by creating an open world engine. You don't just randomly make an engine for Halo, they have been using the same engine since Halo 1 which has been modified over the years and making a new one is a pretty big deal for the franchise.
The Halo independent movies were actually good. I can't wait to get more. As for 343, they have done a solid job with Halo thus far. They went from nothing at the end of Halo Reach to a full AAA studio. They should be applauded for their efforts.
Jeez you type of people
343 is a game developer you dingbat, they won't be filming the damn show.
Id rather a new Halo game than a show.
Since they announced a new game at E3, not really sure the intent behind this comment.
I Meant that I'd rather have a new Halo game before Halo show
Did they announce a new game? Because that looked more like a game engine reveal to me.
@ Bigger Boss This is your fundamental problem... you're always ignorant. You watched the trailer but ignore the fact that the engine is the called Slipspace Engine and the game is called Halo Infinite. Quit starting $#!+ in threads you care nothing about. Not that you care about education but here (don't say I didn't try): https://www.gamespot.com/ar...
You can have both
But then people would say " oh look another halo game why can't they do something else"
The argument that you're "badly" referencing is that 343 should expand and make a new IP. NOT that they should make a Halo tv show, lmao.
So it looks like some people can't tell that the part of the comment I was talking about was the bit about preferring a new Halo game so how does that make my argument "badly referencing"
Here's hoping the covenant look epic in CGI. Definitely going to watch this.
Please don't eff this up Showtime. I have watched every live action and animated movie to date wishing and hoping for a full length studio produced adaptation. I was so disheartened when the Peter Jackson collaboration never came to fruition but there is some hope here. I hope they treat this with the same respect and seriousness HBO displays with Game of Thrones. Can't wait!!
Showtime never disappoints. With the director they have involved and Showtime they can't go wrong with this series.
i hope they keep it dark and gritty and realistic feeling, not take the big hollywood blockbuster approach or crap it out with cheap production and actors. somewhere in the neighborhood of District 9 in terms of feeling and realism but obviously with the Halo storylines/battles/universe.
Start off with the human insurrections and the kidnapping and training of the Spartan kids. Then the eventual first contact with the covenant and focus more on the human relationship, and hopelessness of the wars on each planet as it draws to the season finally which is Reach. Season should start on the Pillar of Autumn and the with the introduction to Chief and the Halo.
I'm just glad to see Microsoft move back into the tv/movie arena. I always thought dropping the studio was a huge mistake. Exclusives in video content are actually proven to sell a platform.
How does a Halo tv show sell xbox consoles? I'm seriously curious, please inform me.
The two movies were good even though they were low budget hopefully the tv show is better then Halo 4 and 5
Look forward to this!
It's never going to be what anyone expects. That ship has sailed. It would have done well years ago but now... Nope. I enjoy Halo but it's not the same anymore. Execs missed the boat when it could have actually done well.
Cool. Now bring it to PC as well.
I would suggest getting whoever made the CGI trailers for e3 and the TV ads back in the day to make a full length CGI movie, while I wasn't a huge Halo fan, watching the awesome CGI trailers from MS built the hype for me massively, they were always super slick and cool. I would definitely watch a Halo tv show, let's hope it's good 👍
