The creative leads over at Suckerpunch revealed additional details about Ghost of Tsushima's open world, saying that the entire island is open to player exploration.
Awesome news! I hate when games are 'open world' but have an invisible wall that just says to "turn back." That's always been a killjoy for me. Just make the thing an island, or have a large crevasse that you can't possibly get past. Something creative, instead of just an invisible wall...
These are lofty claims. . I hope they pull it off. Looking like a day 0 for me irrespective of what's been said
They will pull it off. There is a lot more to this game than many people know, it's a lot deeper than just sword fighting.
Day 1 for sure! Wish they could just give us a date!!!
The setting of Tsushima island is prefect for an open world samurai game. The world will naturally end at the sea surrounding the island, so this allows them to have no artificial physical barriers or invisible end of the world zones that force you to turn back.
Tsushima is an island. That that shouldnr be an issue.
You you remind of SuperMan games. "Oh I can't leave my city", but I am superman who can be as fast as lightspeed and beyond so no one ever will miss him for that trillions of .0s seconds. That's why SM games always underwhelming and so limited.
Wow this just took my hype to another level hearing this. Game is going to be 🔥🔥.
If they got Tsushima Island 1:1 scale and authentic geography then I will all over this game.
Yeah Tsushima is 273 mi² or roughly 5-6x the size of Fallout 4. I'd say this is wishful thinking at best. Just make the island fun to traverse with plenty of varied activities. They shouldn't worry about the size which I'm sure they aren't.
GOTY material right here.
It's coming in the same year as TLOU part 2 This will be hard
Why not take both? But fair point. Not gonna create a bunch of PS first party title in-fighting, but as confident as I am that Ghost will be an awesome game, just like all of SP’s other PS titles, they will certainly have their work cut out for them if they want to take on TLoU2 for GotY.
The surprise game of E3 2018!!!! This is the game that surprised many like Horizon Zero Dawn. Suddenly this game is on many gamers' must have list.
Well, it was already tied with Cyberpunk 2077 as my most anticipated game even before E3. What they showed at E3 was actually better than I had hoped so my excitement for it has reached even higher levels.
Sucker Punch devs channeling their inner Todd Howard.
You are mistaken here,buddy.
Just give me more of that sword play. I don't care if most people don't get it, but the game of timing they're creating with their combat has me so excited. Open world is cool, but there are so many other things I'm looking forward to with this game.
Timing is everything. That wing beat of a dragonfly between life and death. That first nukiuchi in the video shot a bolt through me. As an iaijutsu practitioner I was thrilled.
So we can explore the sun? :)
Well, is this a game about a superhuman samurai? Maybe this is a Infamous prequel?
Guess that means there's a lot of fog around the borders
Or, ya know, water, since it's an island.
If I can't explore the sky, I will sue their damn ass for false advertising.
I thought this was well shown during the E3 gameplay.
You mean like BOTW?
Hopefully swords aren't made out of paper mache in this
Touché, I hated how brittle weapons were in BOTW! Also there have been quite a few good open world games before BOTW. Wild Hunt and HZD come to mind!
I've been waiting a year for DLC to build a bridge over that gigantic chasm in order to actually explore everywhere I can see. It still hasn't arrived yet...
More like Witcher 3. A lot of people said Ghost Of Tsushima reminds them of Witcher 3 which is good thing.
Sucker Punch has created some great open world experiences, so definitely can't wait. I wonder if there will be horse combat.
This was the start of the Sony's conference. Day one even if I just can explore does beautiful worlds
Umm... TLoU2 says hi?
Am I wrong about how I feel about something? Because I have to have the same taste as you? Wow, ok!
I didnt say anything about your tastes bro. Calm down lol I’m just pointing out that TLoU2 was the start of Sony’s conference. Maybe I took your statement too literally lol
Game looks amazing. Game of E3 for sure.
My game of E3, dropped my jaw.
Awesome. My third most highly anticipated game after TLOU II and Cyberpunk 2077.
So the entire globe can be traversed? Wow biggest game ever
Brooooo how can it get any cooler! I hope they let you decide between being samurai or ninja
From the original trailer, it looks like you might be a hybrid of both. Maybe like a Ronin that chooses to master Ninja Arts as well. The armor he was wearing at the end of the first trailer looked like a blend of Samurai and Ninja armor, and holy crap was it badass.
Please do not pull a Todd Howard.
Sucker Punch will deliver. They have pretty good records with Sly Cooper series and Infamous series.
I have no doubt they will, one way or another; but, I'd rather they show than tell.
Here the surprise for ya, that’s E3 demo was shown. It was a side mission.
My most anticipated game
Have you notice that Sony first party studios achieved a whole new level of quality? No one was expecting Horizon Zero Dawn to be such a masterpiece and no one expected God of War to break so many records and become a legend. Now Sucker Punch is getting ready to unleash their master work too. Hideo Kojima is finally free to do a whole new game without the leash from Konami and soon Naughty 🐶 will raise the bar once again with TLoU2. Pretty amazing.
this game looks amazing
Whole island or just mainland I wonder.
It takes place entirely on Tsushima island. The whole island is explorable.
This game really has me hyped. I was sold when the Samurai rolled up on the Mongolian soldiers murdering a citizen, and he says "Bastards, enough!" The body language of a disciplined Samurai, who is obviously showing his human emotions of rage and sympathy (and preparing to wreck shop) was phenomenal. I hope this sort of attention to detail is what we see going forward in gaming. The moment can be seen in this link, see if you agree. https://youtu.be/nVhXp6FX7Y...
