With bombastic showings from Sony in the past few years, it felt like Sony was on cruise control this year and showed fans what they wanted.
"It stinks" There's your overview.
The Last of Us 2 , Spiderman, Ghost of Tsushima, Death Standing, Nioh 2, RE2, Days Gone... 'stunk'.. to you?? Boy.... you might want to take up a different hobby.
The actual presentation for what were otherwise great games.
only the 'intermission' felt out of place. I was wondering why they were in a church.. but when TLOU2 happened I immediately got it.. and the crowd got it too. Apart from the intermission it was a fine conference. it far from stunk.
Amazing games, awkward format. Do it proper next time Sony. We know you have 2-3 other shows in the year but you gotta have a better flow than that.
Plus only one significant announcement. They should have held off on the announcements of Days Gone's release date and Tetris Effect for PSVR and put those in the conference during the intermission, along with some new trailers for games we already knew about. (For instance, the Dragon Quest XI trailer from Square's conference would have fit in perfectly during the intermission. Since it's a game that is already out in Japan it wouldn't be such a big deal for the journalists at the conference to miss it while moving to a new location, but it would have given the thousands of people watching online something interesting to tide them over during the intermission). Alternatively they could have at least highlighted some upcoming indie games or done a sizzle reel of the rest of this year's lineup. Add in another third party reveal or two and their conference would have been fine.
The games were amazing. The unnecessary intermission that lasted 25 mins was the killer. They could have used that time to show more 3rd party games or announce a new 1st party game. The ending was the worst or I was just stupid, they didn't even has a goodbye note or anything. You dont do that man. I thought there was another intermission loool but the playable demo of was watching spiderman vs shocker was epic
