The Resident Evil 2 Remake Takes the Best of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 7 | USGamer

It's been over 20 years since Resident Evil 2 came out on the first PlayStation, and Capcom is back with a Resident Evil 2 remake running on the same RE Engine that powered last year's critically-acclaimed Resident Evil 7. And if Resident Evil 7 was a return to form for the series with a fresh perspective, the Resident Evil 2 remake feels like the future of the series from a familiar perspective.

The story is too old to be commented.

RE7? Nothing I saw in the walkthroughs remind me on that game

This look fantastic and true looking RE game. If anything I’m getting RE Remake and RE4 vibes with hints of the RE3.5 prototype with Leon in the haunted house

They likely mean the inventory & engine this game is using. All i saw resembling RE4 was the camera placement because Leon isnt a bad ass yet. Just a rookie increasing the fear factor. Im impressed they made RE2 look this awesome using that engine honestly. It was designed to highlight VR type horror & they created this beautiful back to form 3rd person game. Damn it looks so good. January too!

The graphics look dissapointing just like RE7

RE7 has nothing to do with this game...the only problem that i m seeing (watching the gamepaly videos) is that the game is a bit low budget and "quicky" made in order to catter the fans ,and get rid of the garbage stain of RE7 (the mouse at the start was exatly that, FPS resident is dead!! :) )

Low budget!? How the hell does this look low budget!?

naruga157d ago (Edited 157d ago )

@Crimson somehow if you have played tons of games you understand when a game is low budget (cheap texture , not extra work on animations , lightning effects , world lightnikg a etcetc) matter what i me hyped for the game and i ll buy it because is made for us the majority of fanbase that hated RE7

SlyBoogie1993157d ago

@naruga, you did play the original Resident Evil 2 right? the entire thing is remade this time so everything has had extra work...

Should have taken the best from RE2 instead. I hate over the shoulder Resi.

Honestly as long as the focus is on survival and inventory management I could care less where the camera is. The thing that sucked going from RE3 to RE4 was that 4 was like a run and gun 3rd person shooter and wasn't really focused on survival as it was upgrading guns and blasting hordes of zombies. Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather have the fixed angle camera, but I doubt they are ever going to go back to that.

bigmalky157d ago

Well, that was my point. If it ends up an action shooting game again, I'm not buying in.

I liked the puzzle/survival/exploration Resi style. No idea why 4, 5 and 6 get any praise as good RE games.

Rippcity157d ago

Yeah I'd expect them to have realized this by now but clearly 5 and 6 exist haha. I had a ton of fun playing 4 but to me it's not a RE game. If there is a shop you can upgrade your guns at, it's not a RE game. Can't lie though, the merchant in RE4 is probably the best part of that game. "WHADDYA BUYIN'?!"

That’s a good direction for Resident Evil 8 to go down

On a side note I wonder if we’ll ever get Resident Evil: Revelations 3 somewhere down the line

gantarat152d ago

If rumor It's true next major RE game that capcom will be release after Remake 2 is Revelations 3
but i think game will be action coop focus since they bring horror back in RE 7 and Remake 2.

Ciporta1980157d ago

If they are saying it takes the best from resi 7 then it must have vr as that was what made that game so awesome.

Elda157d ago

It reminded me of none of those games it looks like a 3rd person back to the original formula of the first 3 games but with current gen graphics.
