Lol. I laugh at fanatics because Nintendo is just being Nintendo by having droughts on their systems and being very secretive. These aren't new things and things are the same like on previous Nintendo systems. Some fanatics will tell you that Nintendo has had amazing games released this year while the switch has been in a drought for over seven months by not releasing anything compelling for the fans to play. After a lot of Nintendo directs and now e3 it's clear Nintendo doesn't have much to release on the switch in the future. The switch will get some games but nothing close to what will be released on a ps4 in the same year.

It's just going to get worse when next gen arrives for Microsoft and Sony, the third party developers will be working harder towards their new consoles that they might not even have enough time to worry about Switch ports of old
games. Then what.

It's be back to what the Wii was like in it's final years or the Wii U.

Thing is Sony next Gen is 2-3 years away they’ve said it themselves. Switch will be 3 nearly 4 years old, you think Nintendo won’t be going next Gen again by then? Look at their home console release history and it’s a clear pattern of between 4/6 years per console Switch 2 won’t be far behind next Xbox and ps5

Nes/snes 6 years snes/n64 5 years n64/GameCube 4 years GC/Wii 5 years Wii/Wii U 6 years Wii U/ Switch 5 years next console due within 4 years this is Nintendo and could break the mold but they have a clear pattern 6,5,4,5,6,5.... 4?!!! Switch 2 2021 2nd half 2022 max
They may stretch it out to 5/6 years but my personal thought unless we start getting switch2.0s next year is they’ll make do with what they got bang out the classics (standard/excellence) and be ready to go all out next Gen when the others do or just after which will have its benefits being as they’ll know what everyone else has launched with ;)

I’m not a fanatic, by any means. I would grade Nintendo’s E3 presentation a C+ at best. But these are not the drought days of the Wii U. There are a ton of releases on the Switch weekly. There aren’t droughts, not as many big AAA releases as what comes out on the Xbox One and PS4, but there have not been droughts on the switch bro lol

zaherdab63d ago (Edited 63d ago )

what are you talking about ... i bought the switch last week and i was really surprised that i was able to go through the entire store in a matter of minutes .... very few big AAA games ... many many indies and mostly old indies that have been out for years ... i am shocked and kinda feel the hype got to me but there's nothing stellar about the system except for 4 titles...
They repeat the same boring formula for their nitnendo directs ... a while back their big one had about 15 minutes on the mechanics of Mario tennis and this one was mostly about the detailed mechanics of Smash

What droughts? Lol silly sony fanatic.

Edit: DJK1NG_Gaming destroyed your post lol!

RosweeSon62d ago

And he didn’t even bring up their big classics Zelda Mario odyssey Mario kart 8 all of which are banging games.

wonderfulmonkeyman62d ago (Edited 62d ago )

DJ just destroyed your Sony fanatic "Switch has no games" BS, LOL.
The only people that haven't found anything compelling to play on the Switch are the ones that either only care about a few specific AAA third parties [some of which aren't even that great; people were saying for ages that Switch would flop because it wasn't getting shit like Mass Effect Andromeda. So much for flopping.:P] or who haven't actually looked through the Eshop.

Even if you try to fall back on the "OMG PORT" excuse, the fact of the matter is that people do want these games on Switch, and thus it does count as valid support. None of your naysaying changes that.XD

Switch has tons to play, which is why so many people are still buying it.
We know you hate hearing that anything could be in the same realm of popularity as Sony, but Switch is.
I can almost guarantee you that both systems are going to break that 100M mark at their current paces.

They didn’t even speak about their new online service

It’s funny how people thought the next Smash Bros would launch alongside the subscription service

DarkVoyager64d ago (Edited 64d ago )

What’s up with Nintendo?

No online info
No Metroid Prime 4
No Pikmin 4
No Animal Crossing

DaGamingKing64d ago

Exactly, where was a potential New Super Mario Bros 3D World sequel? Even a snippet trailer saying Zelda is coming? No online, nothing? Could have moved Smash to its own direct before E3 and focused more on their roadmap for switch owners IMO.

DivineAssault 63d ago (Edited 63d ago )

They do enough Nintendo directs throughout the year to keep people up to date on projects. Its not like all those games got cancelled or anything. Have a little faith and patience. Nintendo knows what theyre doing & a game like smash needs all the media attention right now. Holiday time the switch and amiibo will fly off shelves with this game. Next year Metroid might have the spotlight if their mainline pokemon isnt ready

RosweeSon62d ago (Edited 62d ago )

Heard of Nintendo Direct there will be anouther within a month or 3 max not all companies just rely on E3 each year to announce stuff like Microsoft. Nintendo their own shows all the time Sony have a couple. Maybe it shouldn’t have been 95% smash but hey ho we all know bayo3 coming and yoshi and Pokemon’s did we know a lot about smash Bros. No we were clutching at straws but luckily it was the ultimate as it looks truly epic. Roll on Dec Haha
A minute of Metroid prime couldn’t have hurt tho surely

wonderfulmonkeyman62d ago

Apparently those aren't 2018 games.
The online info is probably going to come out on the month of its release, alongside something else, but the games obviously aren't ready to be talked about yet.

Nintendo will very likely have a Direct focused on the online service. They still should have talked about it at E3 though.

blu3_puls363d ago (Edited 63d ago )

Honestly it would've been better if they just outright said they would only focus on Smash instead similar to Zelda BOTW. I think that would have kept people's expectation in check better including mine.

There wasn't much of anything aside from maybe 2 games and a story DLC (which could have been in another standard direct) since they weren't e3 level in terms of hype and excitement so that's why going with just a Smash blow-out would have been better.

No Animal Crossing
No Super Mario Odyssey DLC
No Pikmin 4
No Metroid Prime 4
No Bayonetta 3
No Yoshi (except to be confirmed delayed)

It was just weak overall. Last year we got a logo for Metroid Prime 4, we got a teaser for Bayonetta 3, and we saw GAMEPLAY of Yoshi. Yet, none were shown for probably one of the biggest gaming event in the year. It was just very lackluster overall from Nintendo.

This is bs.. I bought a switch because they were supposedly transitioning all 3ds game development which was always pumping out games left and right to their new console.. and now this is feeling a whole lot more like the Wii U all over again.. LUCKILY for me PS never lets me down.

instantstupor63d ago (Edited 63d ago )

I'm with you. I have a Wii U and had bought most of the exclusives, Zelda included. So when the Switch came out I was back and forth between waiting, but was interested in Odyssey, Kingdom Battle and the new Xenoblade. It sounded like Nintendo were going to keep pumping games out, keep a stream of games incoming, and be a worthwhile secondary console (fwiw, all my consoles are pretty much exclusives machines as I play most games on PC). Boy, what a mistake that was. I liked Odyssey quite a bit and Kingdom Battle was fun (haven't gotten Xeno yet), but it has been a while since I've even really turned it on.

I was expecting a lot from this Direct, and was let down in the most severe way. With nothing new to show this year, I'm resigned to the fact that my Switch will likely continue collecting dust for the next 12 months...possibly longer? I mean, we know they have indeterminate dates for a couple other big titles, but those are likely still a couple years off. Not looking forward to Yoshi. Octopath looks kind of cool. But for the most part, I just feel underwhelmed.

All I can say is, Nintendo is lucky people didn't buy the Wii U and they had all those games to port. Because their output so far otherwise has been pretty meh, and their future support isn't looking much stronger.

GameBoyColor63d ago

wiiu got like 1 game a year for 4 years of it's life, this is not like that.

Hero-Q863d ago

No Pokemon Core RPG also :p
