Fabrizio Bergamo and nine more students have created, in twelve weeks, a scene inspired by The Last Of Us in Unreal Engine 4. According to Fabrizio, the group was asked to create a “The Last of Us 2” set in London, 20 years after the outbreak.
while i realise a lot of work went into this, i don't think stuff like this should be on this site. really let's start posting every students project i'm sure it'll be pretty but it has nothing to do with game news.
Better than most of the 'news' you find on this cesspit of a site. I would rather see this kind of thing, in celebration of games and the ability of aspiring artists and developers, than the constant stream of negative opinion pieces and clickbait articles.
"Better than most of the 'news' you find on this cesspit of a site. " Still doesn't belong here. Just because you don't like the content of news on the site, doesn't make it a place to post this stuff. This isn't news. If you want to see and comment stuff like this, that's why Reddit exists.
Don't forget to close the door on your way out.
You are so wrong
To be honest, they made it look worse
These are students for goodness sake, this is probably part of a project undertaken as part of their coursework. Perhaps you are a better graphic artist/3D modeller etc, but if so, perhaps you should be more supportive.
Doesnt really matter if its students, its not a product leading any where nor is it really worth covering over other stories, news sites arent a show and tell gathering. Plenty of artists that dont get coverage, because its their work. Perhaps if there was something else to merit it would be fine. But making and already existing scene with and already existing engine which is known for its ease of use in 12 weeks is one hell of a long time to work on something that didnt involve any other processes other than modeling (if they even made all of their own is beyond me). TLDR : what they made is fine, but this isnt news worthy nor is it anything of any spectacular merit, move along
There are inconsistencies in the scenes and I don't know how this is a TLOU2 versus any post apololyptic setting?
Personally I thought this was really cool and definitely makes me hope for the series to expand into other geographic areas and tell different stories. Considering this has been put together by students I think it's really impressive, I think back to my time in college and what I saw of other students work and what I was capable of personally and it was nothing like this. Mind you, that was 25 years ago.....showing my age a bit 😁 If any of the students happen to read these comments, ignore the negativity, it's par for the course on N4G. I would say congrats of your efforts so far, I really enjoyed seeing this and I hope you go on to great success in your chosen profession.
So they tried to copy someone elses work and made it look worse? But they did a great job on their project.
I'm not a big fan of the way unreal engine makes things look anyway. But it's good that they are learning and for future game development.
Whenever people recreate stuff in Unreal Engine it always ends up looking worse.
A bit plastic looking, and the frame rate needs work in some areas, but impressive for students.
It looks nice, but too shiny imo. The dull gritty faded colors was what made the environment in the game really feel like an aging post apocolyptic world.
I don't think this looks good at all. I mean well done on your project, but I'm not a fan of 'trying to copy someone elses work. Make your own thing
Looks like shit...ohh my...now its worse then the original..
