The world has been submerged underwater, and the last remnants of humanity live in submerged cities throughout the oceans. One of these cities, Subaeria, is a ruled under a harsh dictatorship where all crime is punished by death. Will you try to help this city for the better, or only seek revenge? Either way, you'll be in for a fight for survival.
Neil writes: "I don’t mind a good puzzler and I’m rather keen on a bit of rogue-like action. That should mean that any game able to combine the two genres effectively will, at least in my book, be something worth taking in time and time again.
That should also therefore mean that Subaeria is right up my alley. See, it is billing itself as an intense action puzzler with rogue-like elements, and whilst that mixture is all well and good, any really addictive experience does need a bit more than just that to ensure that it is worth experiencing. This is where Subaeria falls flat."
Every video game that takes place under the sea shows it as a dystopian environment. Subaeria, a puzzle game developed by Studios iLLOGIKA is no exception.
TSA writes: "Subaeria starts with a bang. Our protagonist, Styx, has her entirely family murdered in the first few minutes of the game. It’s not an emotional beat of the story, rather it’s more of a mild inconvenience. However, it does provide Styx reason to set off on her quest to defeat an evil totalitarian dictator, this Stalin alike rules over the underwater kingdom of the eponymous Subaeria. Her mission will be long, arduous and – unfortunately – tedious."
