In Detroit: Become Human, failure is more rewarding than success | Wired

If Become Human’s aim was to be a cinematic choose-your-own-adventure, then it is a clear success, and their best work to date. It is not a game that can be recommended to everyone however. Some will dislike the lack of more involved mechanics, while others will shake their head at the clumsy writing and well-worn character archetypes. But there will be a third group of people who will forgive these flaws and will adore roleplaying their way through an adventure in a way that feels unique, and then exploring alternate possibilities through the flowchart system. And when they realise that deliberately losing fights or not fully preparing for your next mission can make things even more interesting, then they will be playing Detroit: Become Human to its full potential.
