E3 2018 is a do or die for Xbox

With no good exclusives, this year Xbox has been suffering a lot. While Sony has many great exclusives like God Of War, Detroit Become Human and Uncharted. Even Nintendo currently has better exclusives than Xbox like The Legend Of Zelda, Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart 8.

saw this last year and the year before. microsoft will be microsoft and I think they have been pretty clear on the direction the xbox as a whole is going.

AnkitDanger177d ago

nah man they weren't suffering that much last year. they had cup head and Forza motorsports 7. But now? sea of thieves and state of decay 2.

Eonjay176d ago

Honestly at this point I am more interested to find out what happened to Below and I also want to see what kind of strides they made with Crackdown. I am also interested in a potential Perfect Dark revival. Other than that I want to see some actual Battlefield 5 gameplay to see if it is really what I think it is or perhaps to see what happened to Anthem.

JesusBuiltmyHotrod175d ago

Forza WOW lol, you kind of made his point.

trooper_175d ago

....That's a terrible list of games.

JaguarEvolved175d ago (Edited 175d ago )

Lol. Fanboys are so silly. The generation is over and the best games slated to come out for all consoles which are meant for adults are on the ps4. The Xbox 360 imo was so flipping amazing and untouchable the first 4years and then Microsoft started with the lack of exclusives and Kinect rubbish. Microsoft needs to replicate what made the Xbox 360 amazing like it was the first few years of release. Xbox needs to be a lot cheaper and have amazing exclusive titles and not mess around with silly things like Kinect or play anywhere. I can play all my Xbox games on my superior pc with free online. Every e3 this generation Xbox has been expected to have amazing things but falls short. Why would Microsoft waste time on a failed generation now when next gen will be here soon. By the time ps4 reaches 100million the Xbox one will be around 35million.

Fanatical fanboys are so silly when they were cheering on Xbox one x instead of more games to play. Xbox one games are already on pc with way better performance so focusing on having a more powerful Xbox is silly when Microsoft could use the money they wasted to open more game studios and make a lot more exclusives. Xbox one x is available and is the most powerful console ever with the " Jaguar evolved " but the best looking games are on ps4.

At this point, MS needs to just ride out this generation and have a strong line-up of exclusives early into the next generation.

Focus on XBO-X improved performance, get the few exclusives you have left, buy up some last-gen A tier developers who haven't really done much this gen for new IP's, continue working with 3rd parties, and get ready to roll out the XB4 holiday 2019 - 2020. It would be a hard pill to swallow for Xbox fans who just bought an XBO-X to see a new console release in 2019, but MS needs that head start to the next-gen, they need the price advantage, and they need to get their developers time to create New IP's on the new hardware.

The XBO-X could still run games, the original XBO can run their Azure streaming services to play those games, so no one feels 100% left out.

2019
$199 XBO bundle 2 controllers 2 games (1.5 TFLOPS, new processor node & overclock) 1080p streaming
$349 XBO-X (6 TFLOPS, new processor node) Native 1440p - 1800p
$499 XB Next-Gen (8-core Ryzen CPU + Vega 56 equivalent GPU 10TFLOPS + 12GB GDDR6) Dynamic 4K

It'll be weaker than the PS5, but not drastically weaker that i's a huge deal, and it'll be able to be $50 - $100 less for most of the generation with a 1 year head start.

Yetter175d ago

both awesome. Maybe try 'em instead of staying in the n4g bubble

wonderfulmonkeyman175d ago

They weren't suffering?
Dude, were you not around for the "always-online" fiasco? It wasn't just last year; they've been suffering for a while, now.

I doubt this year's E3 will kill off Microsoft, but they definitely do need to step up their game and pull some big moves if they hope to pull themselves out of the bad-press-quagmire they've sunk themselves into as of late.

Wrote buy a forum dweller for forum dwellers.

I’ve seen some terrible blogs on blogs4fanboys over the years, and this is up there with the best of them.

I feel bad for giving that site the click that it didn’t deserve

trooper_175d ago (Edited 175d ago )

The truth hurts, doesn't it? You need to stop with the 'wah wah, my company of choice is being persecuted!!' nonsense.

Microsoft brought this on themselves.

pwnmaster3000176d ago

The way I see it, Microsoft is so low that they can show one new game and everyone will be so hyped about it like it was the biggest news. They can only go up from here when it comes to games. I mean that’s what I’m assuming, I have been proven wrong before tho.

StormSnooper176d ago

Yeah they’ve been lackluster throughout.

Aceman18176d ago

MS E3 this year has to show me why I should reinvest in their console again. I'm use to owning all systems at once, but what they've been releasing games wise just is not cutting it for me

I've only owned the X1 for a grand total of 2 months before I sold it to my friend. So MS you need to hop on the good foot, and show me something that says WOW i gotta buy the system again.

choujij175d ago (Edited 175d ago )

" I'm use to owning all systems at once, but what they've been releasing games wise just is not cutting it for me"

Similar to me. Owned the OG Xbox (loved it) and even had X360 since launch day. However, the last few years of the 360 taught me a valuable lesson. So I waited this gen and glad I did. Especially when Phil said the games were also coming to PC. But the games I've been excited about from them were QB (initially), Fable and Scalebound. =S

Aceman18175d ago (Edited 175d ago )

Yep was really excited about scalebound, but we all know how that turned out lol. And QB disappointed the hell out of me.

super_bruno175d ago

Same thing they said last year and they still pretty much alive.

TheCommentator175d ago

Agreed. They've hammered home some really great improvements to the system, OS, and services. They've ditched generations in favor of FC and respecting the customers' investments in gaming. They've also had two successful launches with SoT and SoD2, defying the metacritic reviews (and "popular opinions" of some people around here). Finally, they've made commitments to expanding games production now that their foundation for success elsewhere has been established (which they've said will take years to reach their goal of competing with Sony).

MS has been pretty clear about their intentions, but I'm sure that's not the "intentions" you were referring to.

“Even Nintendo currently has better exclusives than Xbox”

Why do you say that like it’s supposed to be surprising? Nintendo has always offered more exclusives than Microsoft, just compare GameCube to Xbox.

AnkitDanger176d ago

remember the Wii u time? it sucked man.

kevnb176d ago

the wii u has better exclusives than the xbox one.

narsaku175d ago

Wii U was great, had some really awesome exclusives as well.

Jrios355175d ago

AnkitDanger

The Wii U still managed to get the likes of Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World, Bayonetta 2, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Super Smash Bros for Wii U, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Splatoon, Pikmin 3, and Super Mario Maker. 3 games have over a 90 on Metacritic, and 3 were nominated for Game of the Year.

The only thing that Xbox has going for are the Forza games, which have been well received with the exception of Forza Motorsport 5. Halo 5 and Gears of War 4 were disappointments, Quantum Break has been long forgotten, Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2 have been released to mixed reception, Crackdown 3 is nowhere to be found, and Scalebound was cancelled. But if you want to include Cuphead and Sunset Overdrive on an already-weak list of games, by all means.

The Wii U may have failed, but it had a much superior lineup of exclusives compared to the Xbox One.

PhoenixUp176d ago

1.) Nintendo’s first party support on Wii U still trumps Microsoft’s first party support on Xbox One.

2.) What does Wii U have to do with Nintendo’s exclusives always being superior to Microsoft’s exclusives?

AnkitDanger176d ago

Xbox 360 had better exclusives than ps3 and Wii like halo 3 gow3 fable series forza series alan wake Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts
Blue Dragon Lost Odyssey dead rising i could go on. meanwhile Wii had like no aaa games expect some cod games

PhoenixUp175d ago

You lose all credibility with that statement

Spartacus10175d ago

@ AnkitDanger
lol. PS3 had the highest number of high quality exclusives in any competitive generation, and they were not just sequels. It did way better than even the PS4 in that department.

TLOU, Uncharted, LBP, Motorstorm, Infamous, Ni no kuni, Resistance, Demon's Souls. All of those IP's started on PS3. Xbox 360 and Wii got slaughtered.

That is why I'm disappointed as a gamer this gen. PS4 exclusive software support this gen isn't anywhere as good as it was with PS1, PS2 or PS3 but because the competition is so bad, Sony are allowed to get away with taking the foot off the pedal.

PhoenixUp175d ago

You also lose all credibility with that statement

doggo84175d ago

"Xbox 360 had better exclusives than ps3 and Wii like halo 3 gow3 fable series forza series alan wake Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts"

Thanks for the laugh, but no, the ps3 had by far the best exclusives last generation to the point where it isn't even a contest.

What has Nintendo even put out in 2018 besides Labo and ports?

The only real gem the Switch has is Mario Odyssey.

narsaku175d ago

What did Sony even put out in it's first 2 years besides Knack, Killzone and Imfamous?

The only real gem the PS4 had was 3rd party.

Seraphim175d ago

and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. can't forget that gem.

doggo84175d ago

Narsuka

Mmmm, on a rampage I see. How about bloodborne? What did xbox one have in it's first two years? Not much more than the ps4, that I can guarantee.

JesusBuiltmyHotrod175d ago

LOL At Ankit danger , 360 exclusives dried up around kinect, come on Ps3 also had better exclusives.
