iLLOGIKA's action puzzler also runs at between 30 FPS and 60 FPS on both platforms.
Lmao what? Great optimization well done devs hahaha
It runs at over 120 FPS on the atari 2600.
Wow, you fanboys really cannot understand for the life of ya's that devs have priorities and the reason some games run better on Pro when its assumed that it should be better on X. Hate to break to all of you but its a fact. Its the same reason why some games are 1080p on Pro while native 4K on X, the devs just found it easier to achieve that within the time and money constrains they have.
@dantes except the devs have said they didn’t have dev kits to test it so they didn’t enhance it 😉
Perhaps they had trouble with the Xbox One X hardware or they just didn't bother enhancing it for the X? Maybe they are a small company and could only specially optimize for one system. The fact that PlayStation is far more popular might be the reason they chose to prioritize the Pro.
Or it's a cynical decision by the dev as they know this type of nonsense travels like wildfire on the net. Any advertising is free advertising right?
I'm convinced it's just laziness.
Or money is exchanging hands. Shameful if so, but I'd like to think Sony wouldn't go that low.
Laziness doesn't even make sense since the 2 systems are so similar that it's literally just a matter of tweaking a few numbers. This doesn't even make sense
@WilliamSheridan, True, it really doesn't make sense why it's doing so poorly on an XoneX when it's similar but beefier hardware than a PRO. Although surely they could squeeze a bit more than full HD out of a PRO and an XoneX.
@DarXyde I just love when someone who clearly has no idea about this game's development thinks it must be laziness. Nothing stands in your way to show them how it should be done. Writing a comment like yours adds nothing. Makes you look super ignorant though.
they told me they didn’t have OneX dev kits to test it which is why it’s not OneX enhanced. But they did say they were hoping to optimize and update later
That is exactly what happened. And with the sales gap, I can't blame them.
boing1, And yet you provide no counter to my assessment, only a critique of my comment without anything substantial. Tell me, why wouldn't it run at a higher resolution? Due to development difficulties? Doubt it; development is simplified on both platforms to be more compatible with PC. Or maybe it's cost? Also doubtful since developers are already creating games at higher resolutions and scaling down to fit into the hardware parameters of consoles. https://www.usgamer.net/art... I'd love to hear your reasoning why I may be wrong. I'm hoping to learn something today.
@DarXyde Or maybe they don't have enough money to continue. Or maybe they made few mistakes along the way and now it's not profitable to re-write the code. Or maybe a lead programmer lost his hand. You don't know. You can only assume. Laziness shouldn't be your first thought because they've created this game. Would a lazy person do that?
boing1, It seems your first assumption is that laziness is my first assumption. Resources were my first assumption, but if you looked at the article I provided, you'd realize that my position is valid. Again, the argument of resources makes no sense. Games on consoles are being developed to higher specs and scaled down. It is literally more work to do that than to develop for hardware in a more 1:1 manner. I don't really know what to add at this point.
It obviously must be running Xbox One code and needs an X patch. You know this because base models are bothering 720p. Nothing to see here.
Yeah, it seems like they need to patch it in.
ummmmm huh? Ok then lol
“GamingBolt spoke to iLLOGIKA communications officer Pierre-Olivier Macé, who confirmed that the PS4 and Xbox One versions would both run at 720p resolution and between 30 FPS and 60 FPS. The upgraded consoles are a more interesting story though.” ““The game is running on PS4 Pro with a resolution of 1080p and on Xbox One X with a resolution of 720p, both versions run at between 30fps and 60fps,” said Macé.” It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that this will be pretty crap all around
Those quotes suggest that the developer may not have supported enhancements for either the Pro or the 1X, and that the Pro is possibly running in boost mode.
I’d agree but “Boost Mode” is built into the OS and hardware for the Xbox One X as well. While Sony released a patch and labeled the feature the Xbox One X hardware has done that without a label or need to enable/disable it. To either extent it makes me wonder why the developer mentioned One X/Pro support when there clearly isn’t any. It even states the framerate is unchanged when numerous other titles have shown that framerate really can increase solely based on the machine. I’d bank on the idea that this is nothing more than a poor PC port.
“It was impossible for us to have an xbox one x at the studio in time. Regarding to performances results on PS4 and Xbox one (normal version) we didn't want to take risks and we wanted to prioritize the framerate. For PS4 pro we had no choice but to select 1080p at least.” that’s what i heard from the dev
@Kribwalker: Only problem there is that framerate is 30-60 on all consoles. That’s a rather large gap that the framerate may run at. If they were prioritizing framerate I’d have to imagine it would be locked or at least have a more definitive number.
illogika + Boss Key productions... A sloppy match made in Heaven. Also, Even Rare managed to do better than these guys with SOT... I can see it now: "I had tso much un-used powear, Why optimizinng? I'm here to make my 100 towsand and Invest in beetcoineh anywaes, so Croissant to ze America Coumpanee"
Why and how? Is it 720p because it doesn't actually have Xbox One X support? That would make sense given the gap between a regular PS4 and regular Xbox One.
This is just funny
And it will run at 480p on PC.. lol
320x240 if you're running a Titan X only 16 colors
Not to be bag or anything, but we all know the one x should be a lot better.. Just seems like a clickbait article to me.
Or maybe it just runs at a better resolution on PlayStation? Maybe it's a small dev team and they couldn't afford to optimize both X and Pro so they chose the more popular company?
It's actually because the company didn't receive Xbox X dev kits in time.
Oh, it does huh? Sooooo....is this your first encounter with the shit show we call "gaminbolt"?
Gaming Bolt is garbage, but if the developer is being directly quoted as saying "the Xbone X version will run 720p" i'm rather inclined to believe it. Hell, there was a purely speculative article about VII Remake releasing in 2023 and people took it as gospel, but direct quotes from the developer are not as believable? Sure, the source is horrendous, but they are direct quotes..
I take it the disagrees mean a lot of people really like Gamingbolt 😂
I love how when a game is 4K on the X1X and 1080p on the PS4 Xbots are all "See! It's way more powerful!" and then went Ponies are all "That doesn't make sense because 4x the resolution makes no sense considering the hardware difference" they're called sore losers and told they don't know how "hardware works"...which is bullcrap...the X1X isn't THAT much more powerful, it just isn't. Then a game comes out that's lower resolution on the X1X and ALL OF A SUDDEN people are outraged. How do you think Pro owners feel when the resolution disparity between two games literally makes NO SENSE like 1080p vs 4K and you call Pro owners dumb and ignorant. Now I'm not saying that 720p on the X1X and 1080p on the PS4 Pro makes sense, it doesn't, the X1X is in fact faster, but to sit there and be HYPOCRITES is entertaining and ironic none the less.
It's not hypocritical to be upset when the X which is considerably more powerful than the Pro is worse off. It's not a miniscule power difference here. Pro owners can't be upset that the weaker console was out performed by the more powerful one. That wouldn't make any sense.
1080p vs 4K doesn't make any sense. It's hypocrisy. That's my point.
@NewUser101: Except for it makes perfect sense in this case as both Xbox One and Xbox One X are 720 showing that no work was done going from Xbox One to One X. In fact very little work all around had to be done as the Pro only gains 1080 from 720, nothing more. It’s not hypocrisy to point out that a developer 100% clearly half assed all products. Xbox One X just gets the largest shaft.
Nah, don't be silly, there have been games that were 900p on X1 and PS4 and on the One X it was suddenly 2160p and the Pro only did 1080p, or a game that was 1080p on X1, PS4 and Pro and on the One X it was much higher, as if those differences make much sense, but those are being accepted by the Xbox fans due to the hardware differences. While it is true that One X is quite a bit more powerful, the differences we sometimes see do not make a lick of sense whatsoever and they usually happen with Indie games where it is pretty clear they don't have the time and money to do extensive optimising. So yes, this is funny to see :) --------------- @theunder Quite a few Indie games also run in the same resolution on the Pro as they do on the PS4, many a Sony fan has then mentioned that it didn't make sense but Xbox fans said that it somehow did. Just accept that smaller devs can't opimise for each machine separately. In fact, this game being 720p on X1 and PS4 is already a huge sign that they barely optimised at all, it's not like that it looks all that demanding...
@NewUser101 it does make sense since the PS4 Pro is basically a dual GPU system. There is always the problem of not having the Xbox One X dev kit as well.
Different story when devs optimise the pro over scorpio isn't it. Theres no law says they have to prioritise the scorpio.
@Aenea Any time there is resolution parity between PS4 and Xbox One it is because they are not utilizing the PS4 fully. I'm not aware of a single game that is 900p on PS4 and 4K on Xbox One X.
@TheUndertaker85 "It’s not hypocrisy to point out that a developer 100% clearly half assed all products" That not the point he's trying to make, I believe. Although NewUser101 expressed it poorly, what he's trying to say is whenever there's a case where a sports game or small indie game runs 4K on the X and the resolution is 1080p on both the Pro and OG 4 most just boast huge power difference and ridicule the Pro for being a weak and half-assed upgrade instead of pointing out the lack of optimization on the Pro on the devs part like they are doing in this article.
My thinking exactly. And all of that that just to eventually prove how much of a fanboy they themselves are by trying to find some non existent hypocrisy while trying to justify and rationalize this here. Simply because people are smart enough to know that there shouldn't be any compromises between the two (especially) with this or pretty much ANY shared game. As facts are facts. And the fact of the matter is that the Xbox One X is the most powerful console out there at the moment, period! So there's hardly any hypicrisy when people see that a dev isn't fully utilizing the hardware for their game and calling them out for it. I mean, it is not even matching what the pro does which is laughable. So if a game runs at 1080P and 60 frames per seconds on the Xbox1 and 720p and 30 seconds on the ps4, would the same people trying to ratonalize and make excuses here just sit here quietly and accept it like you think they should now? Before we even pretend and act like they would, let'sstop it right there. As history is already in the books. And that overstated gap was nowhere near as significant between the Xbox1 and ps4 as the gap between the X and pro. That is why it's being called out, and rightfully so
@madmoose Learn to read and interpret. No one is saying that you shouldn't called them out here. People are saying that you should call them out too when they don't optimize for the Pro as well.
i’ve spoken with the devs and they told me they didn’t have onex dev kits so they couldn’t test it so it’s not onex enhanced
How did they not have X Dev kits this late in the game? That's just as ridiculous as this news, imho, considering how easy it is to get one.
Lmao wow talk about being a lazy developer 😂
Wait what? 2160p on the Switch and 480p on the PC I guess?
Are these developers straight out of high school, or are they that lazy lol
The developers obviously have been studying for finals for the last few years and are too tired to do any real work.. This game has been in the Steam Early Access program since 2015 (3-year beta). Knowing what I know now about the company I hardly call Subaeria a new game, After looking at the game trailer even 720p on the Xbox base unit tells me that they have no idea what they are doing. Nothing special about the game graphic wise. Case in point Orii (a game built by a very small development team) or a variety of third-party games of the similar puzzle vain easily reach 1080 on the Xbox base unit. Even ignoring the lack of support of the X, this game just shows how bad these developers are in general not being able to reach 1080 on the Xbox base unit while much more complex games do it. The company mostly develops those little mobile Go versions of bigger games (Laura Croft Go, Hitman Go, Assassins Creed mobile and my favorite the Dexter Tv series game) for various companies. If I were a company looking to hire this company I would think twice seeing how they have shown to apparently have limited skills with PC or console development. Strange that they can't create a game that takes advantage of the X (and I will even say there is no reason the Pro, could not do a lot more with the game; the Pro really is not well supported either with such a plain looking simple puzzle game). Maybe the developers got confused and thought they were making a version of the game for iPhone X not, the Xbox One X. Even more perplexing is the company on their home page seem to take a lot of credit for their part in the development of Cuphead. I wonder what they did for that game.
I laughed too hard. Monkeys coding again?
Tell me this is a joke lmao. So how will it run on the Switch? 4K?
lmao this is a travesty
So it has no PS4 Pro/Xbox One X enhancements then.
Good way of advertising a shit game that otherwise nobody would ever have talked about. Clever by the devs when you think about it
I'm almost 100% sure that's what's going on here, c'mon now we're not stupid.
You gotta wonder if Sony is paying some developers to lower the resolution on Xbox One X. This is so stupid that it's funny!
They must have taken that idea from MS that has been paying devs to severely use lower resolutions on the Pro then...
They don’t have to pay devs when pro actually have lower resolution comparing to X ;)
"This is so stupid that it's funny!" That's a good way to sum up your comment.
