Outlandish Sony PSP2 design flaunts flexible OLED screen

"Is it us, or isn't it a bit ironic that the same week Sony's newest Playstation Portable (PSP-3000) becomes available, a fantastic design for a future model bursts on the scene?"

As pretty as it looks it's missing a few things. Namely the X, O, Sqaure, Triangle and two shoulders. But hey! It looks like it does have 2 analog sticks!

chasuk085663d ago

Thats because its not real. If it was do you think sony would miss out those buttons. Its a concept made by Tai Chiem. Personally i think it looks amazing but i wouldnt want to play games on a screen that is moving about everywhere. It just looks impractical.

Bren865663d ago

Sony are dumb enough to not put the buttons onit and finally put 2 sticks onit. Even though its not real, I wouldn't be suprised sony **** it up again.

UNCyrus5663d ago

it does have the two shoulder buttons... R and L are on the back.. check it out

I'm turned on. I really am.

@1.1

If you reread the article, it mentions that when electricity passes through the OLED's pixels, they become rigid, so it flopping about wouldnt be a problem.

I know it's not real I read the article. I was just pointing out that it's missing a few "necessary" buttons even though it's a concept.

oOLightOo5663d ago

Maybe a on screen d pad, and rest of the buttons.

Qdog5662d ago

Having used the X, triangle, square, and circle buttons as an extra d-pad for fps games via an adhesive thumbpad addon, I can say that this is quite viable, and I'm sure that the shoulder and/or bumper buttons are on the back. Having the second thumbstick replace the face buttons would also leave the door open for backwards compatibility, through hard emulation. It's a nic concept if implemented correctly, and not a far-cry with todays consumer technology.

Very nice idea who ever made that.

Fishy Fingers5663d ago (Edited 5663d ago )

Completely impractical and ergonomically terrible, but from a design point of view, cool as ****. Make an amazing media player for films or TV but not a handheld console. A super expensive media player. Might as well throw in a touch screen.

But props to the designer, nice photoshop skills.

Title needs changing! "Outlandish Sony PSP2 design flaunts flexible OLED screen"

Mr_Showtime15663d ago

Totally dumb and impractical...but certainly cool

Johnny Cullen5663d ago

Yeah.

Its useless in a practical sense but in a design way...wow...

cl63AMG5663d ago

yea that was a misleading title...

If they made the PSP 2 with an OLED screen like that it would cost $2500.

The current OLED that is available is $2500 for an 11 inch screen.

magicfrog5663d ago

11" LCD screen was about $2500 years ago

R2-JD5663d ago (Edited 5663d ago )

Have a look at this link:
http://www.sonystyle.ca/com...

Sony has an 11 inch OLED TV out right now and it is $2499.99.

So if they were to use this concept for the PSP2 it would cost a fortune if it came out soon. Maybe in about 5 years it would be affordable. Not to mention that the current OLED technology has a worse life span than the first plasma tv's.

MagicFrog it is an OLED screen not an LCD screen...

You just fail and saying someone else failed.

Sorry try again.

DaTruth5663d ago (Edited 5663d ago )

He didn't fail. He was just making the comparison between price of OLED now and LCD years ago. So whenever this comes out it won't be that expensive.
