God of War is a fantastic reinvention of the series | Entertainium

"Sony Santa Monica has given us reason to care about where Kratos' story will lead, and most importantly, delivered one hell of a ride to seamlessly play and enjoy through and through, from the intro screen to credits." - Eduardo Reboucas, Entertainium

Kratos is more likable than ever. Cory Barlog and SSM nailed it. Nintendo really need to evole Link as a character, not just a figure.

edureboucas152d ago

I agree! He's really good now, I hope they keep evolving him in later games.

I think God of War shows you how to change a franchise while still keeping to the core roots of the series to make it feel like a natural evolution to keep in updated and fresh.

Zelda has been around for 20 years and they've hardly ever evolved him. We should have saw Link developed in an open world RPG game similar to Geralt in the the three Witcher games for example years ago, yet when they refuse to do so nobody bats an eyelid.

edureboucas152d ago

Yeah, I was really surprised with how well Kratos turned out in this. Really great writing and execution all around.

UCForce152d ago (Edited 152d ago )

Now I can see your point. Link hasn’t evolved as a character. He is just one dimensional. Kratos now has three dimensional.

Except Geralt and Kratos are characters whereas Link in each game is a completely different Link ever single time and is an avatar for the player. They are two completely different types of player characters.

UCForce151d ago (Edited 151d ago )

@PhantomS42 But Link is still one dimensional character no matter which version Link is. He need to evole. I found one dimensional character can be outdated.

Honestly, at the end of Breath when Zelda asked Link that question, I just wanted him to look her in the eye and say "yes". Just a simple thing. But he didn't, he just continued to be mute. I think it's about time he gets his own voice.

I'm enjoying the changes, though there still some drawbacks with certain things, but overall its what GOW needed to progress the series and Kratos in general.

edureboucas151d ago

I can see some people not liking the new camera angle, for one. Haha!

leemo19151d ago

That's the problem with over the shoulder, your fov is limited. So people who are used to having the camera wide in GOW may not like it.

edureboucas151d ago

I agree. I admit I had some problems, but the way the hud treats being surrounded definitely helps you avoid getting trapped once you get used to it!

BeardedDrachen151d ago (Edited 151d ago )

I like Kratos as a character. He's more personable and understanding... He will help when he can but he's also wary of people trying to hurt him and his child.

i'd give the game a 9.5 out of 10. Only thing that has been irritating is the small font in the menus... and the convoluted upgrade system.... They should have made it more simple... like... you gain 'X' amount of XP... you get some points to spend on base stats and skill trees..... in addition, you can buy armor and enchantments that increases/decreases the stats.

neutralgamer1992151d ago

i think we will see these improvements via patches with community feedback

edureboucas151d ago

I agree that upgrading can be a little confusing at first, but if you stick to stat building from the descriptions, you should be fine.

Sony knows what they're doing unlike Microsoft
