Despite posting a strong launch, Activision's "Destiny 2" appears to be in trouble.
My how the might Bungie has fallen
I just find it ironic how they created Halo and were part of MS and got tired of making Halo so they bought their freedom from MS only to go to Activision and create none other than a Halo-esq type of game. They basically traded one evil for another.
Indeed. How ironic.
There's really only so much you can do with a fps focused "casual" mmo. its fun at times but it basiclaly boiled down to waves and waves of progressively stronger enemies. basically kill this wave kill that wave not too much variety in gameplay. not to many non shooter elements to break up the same old same old.
Their whole job is to find ways to make it fun and break it up. If they cant why did they make the game to begin with and put it on a decade long plan?
Well the 10 year plan probably was at activisons guidance. Bungie just followed suit as they pretty much had no choice
Destiny 2 seemed like a huge improvement at first, but the endgame is where the cracks start to show.
Found the first game so boring didn't give the second game a even a thought.
Dying? It stinks already. Been dead for a while.
Destiny died after the end of the first version. It was a good game. RIP
I can't even pay attention to an article which gets information immediately wrong in the title. Activision Blizzard only owns the publishing rights to the title for the 10 year period of their contract with Bungie. Bungie owns the Destiny intellectual property. Is it dying? No. Destiny 2 is simply the victim of a poorly timed contract renegotiation which, allegedly, forced Bungie to rework the title in a very short time window. The first game was also rushed forcing Bungie to put a lot of grind heavy systems into the game to hide the striking lack of content. Destiny 2 has far less grind but the consequence is players discovering there's not enough content to keep them engaged. The franchise is stumbling and for some reason the masses would rather scream "Zombie!" instead of shrug it off with a "clumsy".
So two games in a row both "allegedly" rushed and we are supposed to give it a pass because the game is the victim rather than Bungie bearing the responsibility to release a solid game and it stuttered twice. Destiny 1 fell way short of its proposed vision and Destiny 2 decided to build a house on top of the empty carcass. The game may not be "dead" but it is dying and unless they breathe some solid new ideas of life into Destiny 3 it wont make it much further.
Bungie were hypocrites - they wanted freedom from Microsoft, bought themselves out, only to commit to a single publisher for a full decade at the same time that publisher was going through the ringer for their treatment of Infinity Ward and the Modern Warfare sub-franchise. Not to mention that today, they are practically the only competitive FPS not running at 60fps. Even Halo made that jump!
They should've just kept releasing expansions for it like Blizzard do for their games. That way when they finally released it for the PC it would've had all of the back content to enjoy, as it is they just through all of that hard work away...
Played this past weekend & got to level 16,I enjoyed playing.
It's just not for me nor was Halo, when I think Sci-fi I just don't feel this kinda corny take on it rather have some thing super serious like the first Alien movie (but not that IP) but that feel...ya dig.
Nope, it'll come back eventually. It'll probably take a while but it's definitely not dead yet. Maybe after a proper meaty expansion, CoO was really bad
I am really turned off by Destiny. I loathe the art style, every weapon and piece of armor is unappealing. I dislike bullet sponge enemies. I can't stand recycled levels. I am not a fan of hub cities. I always wondered why it was so popular. I guess intelligent, beautiful people just don't like it, you know? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anything that is published by the rancid, despicable and lecherous Activision is bound to meet a slow, inevitable death.
I made the right decision to not buy this game. When does the train wreck stop?
