One of the dangers of shipping a game early in the year is that if it turns out to be a critical hit, it might be in danger of being forgotten when awards talk warms up at year's end. In that respect, the games industry is a bit like Hollywood. However, it'd be hard for IGN to forget Sins of a Solar Empire, the sleeper hit strategy game from Stardock and Ironclad Games that shipped back in February. Sins delivered an addictive gameplay experience that felt original and unique. While Ironclad has supported the game admirably with updates, it is planning to release the first of what it terms micro-expansions next month, and IGN got our first good look at it recently.
