Ever since making huge waves at Microsoft’s keynote back in 2016, Sea of Thieves has gotten a lot of attention and a lot of hype. The news was even more tantalizing because storied developer, Rare, was at the helm of this fresh new IP. One could say a lot is on this swashbuckling journey for Rare and Microsoft.
Sea of Thieves is the first Rare-developed game to launch for a PlayStation console, and Sony was heavily involved in helping the studio bring the swashbuckling pirate romp to its flagship console.
Out of curiosity could any of these ms games going to ps5 have been leaked by Sony themselves? Not Sony but someone at Sony
sony isn't about to let some console wars get in the way of trying to make microsoft become a third party dev by showing them that they make more money with them than without them. of course with that in mind they'd help them. it's also doubly so because microsoft are bringing what is considered a popular game over that can also make sony money
Nice.
Still don't want it though.
Tell me Killer Instinct is coming to PS5 and then we'll talk.
Sea of Thieves leads PlayStation pre-orders, highlighting its cross-platform appeal and setting new trends in gaming.
Eh, I just don't get it... I was super hyped about this game before it came out. Then, when I actually played it I was really let down. I mean, the gameplay is good, and I love the multiplayer aspect of it. But it just felt pointless once I realized nothing is really saved. I was spending a lot of time piling food and supplies on my ship with my co-op buddy. Then, we quit for the night, came back the next day and realized none of that stuff was even saved. Playing just for the sake of cosmetics just doesn't feel satisfying to me personally.
I was interested in it at first when it was announced back in the day. They the years dragged on no new info about this game I just lost interest. Then when I saw the game play I knew I was not going to get it.
People pay for games over on the playstation side. Must feel good for developers on the xbox side.
Funny it’s the top preorder when all Sony fans have done is make fun of it since day 1. My only issue with the game is not allowing you to customize your look. You have to just refresh random looks until you find something that look half way decent.
I'm interested in it and so is a friend of mine but not paying £40, gunna wait for a sail...get it, anyway 😂 yeah, gunna wait til it's about £20-£25
Six years since its voyage began, the oceanic co-op is landing on PS5 – and the team behind the game can’t wait to empower the creativity of a whole new community of players.
Reading it's obvious this has been in the planning stages for at least a year. Good read. Glad they are super excited. I like this part...
- Rare is also planning to introduce an offline solo mode with the March update. “You won’t need Xbox Live or PlayStation Plus,” says Neate. “If you just want to come and play on your own, you’ll get to play Safer Seas as a solo player so you can experience all of the Tall Tales content and all of the progression through the companies. It’s another way to fall in love with the game before thinking ‘maybe I wanna go get that subscription and start playing multiplayer’.”
That will get a lot of people who prefer to play Solo on board to start with. Including myself. I read this and my ears perked up. Now I'm interested in Sea Of Thieves. I'm going to support their game on Playstation. I've alreday bought Hifi Rush and I plan on buying Grounded as well. As long as MS keeps sending games to playstation, then I'll support those games. The best place to play is Playstation
I returned to Sea of Thieves recently (I preordered at launch) and the issues then is still the issue now. You will face the same Skeleton enemies over and over with little variety to the enemies types, gameplay mechanics, or missions. Once you've played a couple weeks of the grind that is this game, you will most likely have experienced everything it has to offer with little reason to continue leveling up. The islands don't change and the gameplay never gets better than swing basic sword, block, shoot bullet with no upgrades.
Six of Thieves lol
I tried to say everything people are saying now a few times in the past only to get down voted to hell. I was in the alpha/beta/s for this game for around a year give or take.
Whenever it started I was there. I saw the updates and advancements that added details, sounds, effects, and zero gameplay. Every update the game looked better, added a feature like respawn behaviors like cooldowns, and wayyy down the line swordplay. Treasure maps, and places to go, prettier water. Every update came and went and after the initial wow that does look better, the damn this is getting old sets in.
Only so many times can you load into a room and everyone is sitting on the ship talking about games, life, and whatever else and not do a quest. And who could blame them? You want to play the game but there’s no game to play so you talk. You know what that sounds like and feels like? PlayStation home. On the water. People sitting around, talking, making friends, doing little quest for in game items, showing off what you found to friends, showing said friend how to get the item, and then sitting and talking again. This would have been fine if it costed the same as Home did.
I suggested, only to get down voted, that with the content and features Sea of Thieves has it would have a chance to get hooks into people and then have some paid content for those that choose it. To charge for this was a big mistake. By the time it gets real meat, if it ever does, the user base will have diminished to next to nothing. E3 will have passed, new games will be out or on the horizon, and this will have a hard time fighting to get your interest again.
