It will be powered by an AMD customised processor with Radeon Graphics and more.
$249-$299 Too much or is that a good deal?
Depends on the games.
So I think depending on how Linux is implemented on this box, it really is as they saw: 'The full PC experience' Can you then: Install Steam on it? That aggressively changes the outlook on the price.
I highly doubt the cpu/gpu would be good enough to run most games on steam. We will see, I've been wrong before.
It ALWAYS depends on the games in the end.
The OS is Linux, which is an open system. Anything that runs on Linux should run here, and Atari's own statements encourage open use. “'With Ataribox, we wanted to create an open system, a killer product where people can game, stream and browse with as much freedom as possible. Atari games and content will be available as well as games and content from other providers,' said Fred Chesnais, Atari's chief executive officer before the name was officially changed." So this is like an AMD PC running LInux "with a custom interface" (whatever that means). I'm going to guess even PC peripherals (including keyboards) will work, though I won't assume anything until the real system comes out.
Depends on a lot of factors. I find it difficult to believe this could be more powerful than base PS4 hardware, but who knows? It’s mostly going to be the software that decides whether or not this will be a success.
depends on the specs. if they're claiming that it offers a full PC experience, it may be of interest to me. I was completely expecting this to be another Ouya, I may have been wrong.
Keep in mind pretty much any android tablet technically offers the full PC experience, so that doesn't really mean much.
It's the next OUYA 2.0
They need to make all their games new or old console exclusive to succeed also bring all the games already out just like Nintendo switch did.
I need to see what games the console has
Specs are not discussed past being AMD CPU and Radeon graphics.
Yeah, this article says very little we didn't already know.
I'm still wary of the crowdfunding aspect. This thing already seems too much like another Ouya.
As long as the person representing the project isn’t a total idiot, it’s already off to a better start
Hmm what if this console have more first party exclusives than the Xbox one?
That's not hard
If Atari could have a system run steam out of the box instead of needing a PC to do so, could be a game changer. The amount of indie games I would like to play that are only available on steam is vast.
didn’t we see that with steam boxes?
When it's all said & done I'll be curious to exactly what it does all around & that's about it.
From what we know so far (so little) $250 - $300 is too high.
This literally tells us nothing. whats the clock speed of the cpu? system memory? dedicated gpu ram? wtf. like for real. What are the hdd size offerings? SSD? It doesn't have to run the newest games in 4k or 60fps. But if its capable of running.... say fortnight, or other free to play games of same caliber, at 1080 or even 720 they have a decent run at it.
Basically a steambox
oh boy centipede..
