Is this the first XB1 game to support Freesync?

theXtReMe1105d ago (Edited 105d ago )

I dont know. I originally was under the impression that freesync was hardware based and therefore every game could benefit. Though, I’m not so sure that’s true anymore. There are conflicting reports around the Internet.

theXtReMe1105d ago

Ive always been worried about freesync as a standard, because then what stops developers from releasing sub 30fps games, knowing that they dont have to hit a constant framerate? Obviously, tearing and frame pacing issues should be eliminated regardless... though, what does a 20fps game look like with freesync enabled?

Slurms105d ago (Edited 105d ago )

Could be both. Freesync may be enabled at the hardware level, but rendered completely ineffectual by the v-sync implementation within a game.

Hopefully games start doing both. A proper locked and stable v-sync implementation for the majority, with the capability to unlock it when VRR is available, allowing higher framerates without introducing tearing.

Ohhh man i cant wait for State of Decay 2! I think its kinda cool they added hostile humans.

Ciporta1980105d ago

Doesn't vrr just mean unstable frame rate?

PFFT105d ago

I guess the game will adjust the frames accordingly to the situation.

Alexious105d ago

No, variable refresh rate means that the display will automatically adjust its refresh rate according to the current frames per second. Like G-Sync or FreeSync.

mark_parch105d ago (Edited 105d ago )

@Alexious
Could somebody please explain what this means for me as I have an xbox one x. does it mean I will get a better frame rate than on xbox one s?

Fishy Fingers105d ago (Edited 105d ago )

Alex with the correct answer gets the disagrees...?

Mark, unless your TV/monitor supports it it won’t mean anything, if it does, smoother overall experience. But put simply it operates more or less the same as freesync without the added latency. More in-depth explanation https://www.google.co.uk/am... no need to guess.

@Fishy Fingers
Thanks bro, I have a sony 65" 900E so I wont be able to take advantage of it. I've got fingers crossed for a 900p-1080p 60fps option on xbox one x. witcher 3 got close so it's possible

Ciporta1980104d ago

So it is unstable then. Thanks for clarifying.

Fishy Fingers104d ago (Edited 104d ago )

Cip, you’re welcome, clearly quite the noob but not to worry, read the link I posted and look a little less silly next time. Always happy to help.

it doesn‘t look like they did much to evolve the game m. looks like more of the same to me. will read the reviews but i don‘t feel like playing more of the same.

mark_parch105d ago

they have improved the game in every department from hat I've seen but it's still state of decay so if you didn't like the first game I don't think you will like this. I loved the first game so really looking forward to this especially co-op

Jinger105d ago

... I like how people expect a sequel to be completely different from the original... I mean of course it's going to be like the first game, but it'll have more and be more refined... like a sequel should be.

Fragnum104d ago

@Mark_parch

I agree, the game looks great.

The graphics look a lot better than the first game, the whole experience looks more refined.

You're on X right? ping me a PM if you want to team up :)
