Sea of Thieves is an entirely new IP with an unorthodox premise that relies on multiplayer. Could it succeed? Early investments seem to suggest it could!
Come to think of it since the entire 16 year time period that Rare has been owned by Microsoft I can’t think of a single title they’ve developed that’s proven to be a massive hit under the Xbox brand, especially in comparison to when they worked with Nintendo. http://www.vgchartz.com/gam... I guess you could say Kinect Sports, but the Kinect is a sore subject for a lot of people.
Multiple betas and a thousand articles and I still don't know what you do in the game. Is it just sailing around and screwing around with other people? Are there story missions or is it randomly generated chests of gold/islands to find? Is there any kind of progression for your pirate? Level system, etc. It looks neat to me and I want to like it but I'm lost on what you actually do in the game.
This article was up on N4G about a week ago, it contains most of what you're looking to find out: http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...
"...an unorthodox premise that relies on multiplayer..." Looks kind of like an MMO to me. Are they considered unorthodox?
