CNet Reviews Sony PSP 3000

CNet Writes:

The good: Light, slim enclosure; screen offers better color reproduction than that of earlier PSP models; improved AV output for video and game playback on TVs; built-in Skype with onboard microphone; retains all of the impressive media and online features of earlier PSP models; deep lineup of great game titles that offer better graphics than Nintendo DS games.

The bad: Despite improvements, problems and annoyances remain: UMD load times still poky compared with DS games; screen isn't glare-free, and is still a magnet for fingerprints; Web browser and data input can be cumbersome; no built-in storage; subtle redesign missed the opportunity to add even more features.

The bottom line: While there's probably not enough to get owners of previous the PSP to upgrade, newcomers will find the PSP 3000 to be a solid portable gaming and multimedia device.

When will it end? Maybe if they were pure like an American based corporation like Microsoft they could make a decent product.

A moving, hand-held RROD!

"UMD load times still poky compared with DS" - dude...what loads faster than a cartridge?

"screen isn't glare-free and is still a magnet for fingerprints" - it's an LCD screen, there's not much you can do about that

"Web browser and data input can be cumbersome" - understandable

"no built-in storage" - eh...each PSP 3000 comes with a memory card so it's pretty much like saying the PS3 doesn't have built-in storage either

"subtle redesign missed the opportunity to add even more features" - PSP 4000 to feature swiss army knife and laser pointer?

new full keyboard in next firmware should solved the data entry problem.
game going downloadable with psn store makes loading faster than umd.
sounds like cnet rated the hardware and forgot the software.

Really?! Like the 360...isn't that the famous RRoD console, the one which will set your house on fire if you're not careful?! I think it is... :P

BTW, since when are American corps an example to anyone?

I agree Marceles... just sounds like this guy is trying to find fault with the PSP3000 on purpose. It might not be something all PSP users will upgrade to, but the additions it has got are quite good nonetheless.

Yeah Sony kept the memory sticks so media could be removed and added as the user demands. Because it doesn't have an internal solution is not a reason to call foul. UMDs load from an optical disc, DS cards load from hard memory which is known to be faster. Web browser interface is cumbersome. Well what do you expect from a portable game device? It doesn't have a built in QWERTY keyboard but it works. Sorry, this article is a nitpicker and not a really valid one.
